Shatner Hooked On Italian Food

26 September 2008 12:52 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

William Shatner is struggling to stay in shape because he can't stay away from his favourite Italian restaurant.

The once-trim Star Trek icon has piled on the pounds in the last year and it's all because of a diner near the stables where he and his wife own horses.

Shatner admits his days start out healthy - with a bowl of fruit for breakfast and a swim in his pool - but, by lunchtime, he's ravenous and filling up with pasta.

He says, "Once the menu's in my hand, there's no stopping me. Sometimes I order everything on the menu. Sometimes I order two or three of everything on the menu, so we can try a little bit of each dish."

And his trips to the restaurant are making a huge dent in his fortune - because he insists on treating horse trainers and friends every time he visits the diner.

Shatner Calls Abrams A Liar

23 September 2008 2:01 AM, PDT | From MovieBlog.Ugo.com | See recent Ugo MovieBlog news

Last week in an interview Cinemablend, JJ Abrams spoke to the site on the subject of William Shatner’s absence from the upcoming Star Trek reboot and that they “tried desperately to put him in the movie” but Shatner was not interested. Abrams claimed they offered him a cameo, which Shatner refused on the grounds that he’d only do it if he got a bigger role. Shatner does not seem to recall it the same way.  In Shatner’s video response, posted below, the legend says pretty clearly: “Nobody ever came to me and said we have a cameo for you.” Shatner agrees that he probably wouldn’t have been interested in doing a cameo had one been offered to him. But since they didn’t, Shatner awkwardly sets things straight: “Nobody ever asked me, and I’m just sorry that I’m not in your wonderful movie.” Shatner

The Boys Band Together on the Emmy Red Carpet

22 September 2008 12:24 AM, PDT | From Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news

The men left all the color to the ladies on the red carpet at the Emmys last night, keeping it tame in their dapper suits and tuxes. True to form, the Entourage boys walked and posed together, while Jeremy Piven and John Krasinski held their own with their hands in their pockets. Diddy hammed it up as usual, and Patrick Dempsey, Jon Hamm, and Neil Patrick Harris added just a little more dreaminess to the equation. Mark Wahlberg took a break from his newborn baby boy to hit the red carpet. While most of them played it safe this time around, bonus points all around to the guys for successfully putting their handsome selves together. To see tons (we're talking hundreds) more photos including Jon Hamm, Christian Slater, David Boreanaz and so many others just read more. Mark Wahlberg Michael C. Emmy Awards Reality Hosts Get Black and Blue and Boo

21 September 2008 7:05 AM, PDT | From Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news

Oprah wowed in red as she opened the show after the cool What's my line? clip but unfortunately following her was the reality hosts talking about nothing. It was almost as uncomfortable as watching Ricky Gervais ask for his Emmy back from Steve Carell. Yes it was funny but I was getting a bit worried that Steve was going to cry or beat the crap out of him. Other quick thoughts: Steve Martin, Genius. Josh Groban, surprisingly cool! Neil Patrick Harris and Kristin Chenoweth, favorite presenting couple. Cruel joke that was perfect — making reality TV host category wait until after the commercial break to see who won. Desperate Housewives all dolled up. Yay Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin and Mad Men! Click here for all the winners from last night. As for next year, let's hope the Emmys settle on one host since this year's group was like an experiment gone bad.

No One Ever Offered Shatner A 'Star Trek XI' Role

20 September 2008 2:28 AM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

In a story that doesn't seem to ever want to die, William Shatner responded to a report from last week from "Star Trek XI" director J.J. Abrams explaining why the Capt. Kirk actor was out of the film. Shatner, who is about to complete his Emmy-winning final season on the ABC series "Boston Legal," said that while he is a big fan of Abrams, the truth was, no one ever offered him any kind of role in the film. "Nobody ever came to me and said we have a cameo," Shatner said in a video response posted on his official Web site. "Maybe you wrote it, but it never presented itself. But the truth is, I wouldn't want to have done a cameo." Shatner made it clear last year when the rumor mill was turning hard just before filming started on the new Star Trek movie that while he would

Shatner: No Cameo Offer In New Star Trek Movie

19 September 2008 4:45 PM, PDT | From ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news

Is it me or does it increasingly seem that William Shatner is to the forthcoming Star Trek “requel” (reboot and prequel) what Mark Millar is to the Superman reboot movie: Constantly talking smack just to get attention/press (i.e. publicity stunt)?

The latest chapter in “Shatner-Gate” comes from this video - part of a new series of video blogs called The Shatner Project:

Everyone’s favorite ham (chatting along with his daughter Liz) rebukes claims made by director J.J. Abrams that they tried to work out a cameo for him, but he balked at the offer demanding more screen-time:

“JJ, nobody every came to me and said ‘we have a cameo.’ Maybe you wrote it, but it never presented itself to me. But the truth is I wouldn’t have wanted to do a cameo, because that you would have clipped that out.

Geek Daily: Who's Sad, Who's Mad, and Who's Just Happy to Be Here

19 September 2008 10:40 AM, PDT | From Cinematical.com | See recent Cinematical news

I think this is the quietest week in the land of the nerdy since I started here at Cinematical. No major casting news from Marvel, no new graphic novels optioned, no reboots announced. It was a pretty crazy summer when it came to superheroes -- maybe everyone is just really tired. Nevertheless, let's look at what has come across the wire, shall we? It's a very verbal day -- Alan Moore still hates Hollywood, William Shatner is still annoyed at JJ Abrams, and M. Night Shyamalan is all wistful. There's plenty to discuss here!

Geoff Boucher interviewed Alan Moore over on HeroComplex and finds him as intractable as ever when it comes to the upcoming Watchmen movie. He believes it sounds like "more regurgitated worms" as Hollywood is wont to produce. (Not just of his work, mind you, but of films in general.) He even hinted that its recent legal

Shatner's video response to Abrams' Star Trek comments

19 September 2008 9:57 AM, PDT | From The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news

The legend that is William Shatner, has responded to STAR TREK director J.J. Abrams following his comments that he turned down a cameo in the film. It seems that Shatner, who played Captain James T. Kirk in the series and movies that followed for many years wasn't even approached to do a cameo for the 2009 released movie.

In the following You Tube video, Shatner says that he would love to do a cameo for the film, and would be willing to do that in the follow-up, should there be one. The interview is conducted by Shatner's own daughter Liz. Take a look.

William Shatner Responds To Star Trek Director J.J. Abrams

Over the past few months (possibly years) there has been speculation regarding William Shatner's appearance in J.J. Abrams upcoming Star Trek movie. Shatner responds

After J.J. Abrams' comments about why William Shatner was not to appear in his upcoming STAR TREK movie, Bill has taken it upon himself to clarify the whole issue for us. You can check the video out BELOW: I'll be honest I wanted to make some jokes but Shatner scares the shit out of me. I truly cannot determine if he is being sincere or snide. I think it's sincere but I just can't tell. So naturally my next port of call is to ridicule Trek fans. But you guys scare me too. Just looking down...

William Shatner has responded to J.J. Abrams's comments regarding his axed cameo in the upcoming Star Trek film. Abrams recently admitted that he had devised a way to bring Shatner back to the franchise as Captain James T. Kirk, but ditched the flashback scene because "it didn't quite feel right". Shatner has since posted a video message to Abrams on YouTube, claiming that he hadn't been informed about the cameo role. "Nobody (more)

Shatner Wants 'Star Trek' Mixed with a Little 'Jurassic Park'

19 September 2008 1:29 AM, PDT | From Rope Of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

A little over a week ago J.J. Abrams was quoted saying there actually was a Captain Kirk scene written into the new Star Trek flick but it got nixed for logical reasons. Well, William Shatner has received word of the Abrams comment and has responded with a suggestion... Use the hovering thing and put the molecules together and out comes Captatin Kirk or something to that effect. Then he starts talking about dinosaur DNA, it's fantastic... Give it a watch.

Shatner: "Nobody Offered Me a Part" in 'Star Trek'

18 September 2008 9:47 PM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

For J.J. Abrams, The Shat is not where it's at. As you've probably heard, the original James T. Kirk will not be in the new Star Trek movie, which will boldly go next May. Information has been sketchy as to why William Shatner won't make a return voyage, but last week Abrams tried to clear it up once and for all.

Saying that he "tried desperately" to get Shatner in the movie, Abrams told AMC, "It was very tricky. We actually had written a scene with him in it that was a flashback kind of thing, but the truth is, it didn't quite feel right. The bigger thing was that he was very vocal that he didn't want to do a cameo."

Abrams also expressed some concern over how to handle Kirk's appearance, since the character died onscreen in Generations a bunch of years ago.

Now Shatner's having his say,

Shatner Calls JJ Abrams A Liar

18 September 2008 8:47 PM, PDT | From cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news

Even though I'm a Star Trek fan, I really don't care whether William Shatner is in the next movie or not. I seem to be the only one, because the media humping of this particular subject simply will not die away... and if people weren't interested well the media (I guess that sort of includes me), wouldn't bother to report it. Apparently JJ Abrams has bought into the hype of having Shatner in his new Star Trek movie too, because according to William Shatner he's been running around lying about the original Captain Kirk's involvement. Last week in an interview, JJ Abrams told us that they "tried desperately to put him in the movie" but Shatner simply wasn't interested. He claimed they offered him a cameo, which Shatner refused on the grounds that he'd only do it if he got a bigger role. Today, Shatner has come out and called

JJ Abrams shot a flashback cameo for William but said that the actor didnt want a small cameo and since the flashback scene wasnt a good fit it got cut.

William Shatner turned to Youtube to share his insights on the entire situation and you can watch the video below.

The actor has teamed up with illustrators at BlueWater Productions to adapt his stories into graphic novels and has told the LA Times that they will be in the stores in March of 2009 “I loved comics as a kid and. I used to sit under the sheets with a flashlight and read Superman when I was six in Montreal, and now, with the comics as they are today, it’s thrilling,” said Shatner.
