Last week, CBS’ Gary Unmarried premiered with actor and comedian Jay Mohr taking the titular role of Gary Brooks, a burdened painting contractor who recently ended his 15-year marriage with his wife Allison (Paula Marshall), who decides to get engaged to their marriage counselor. Add to that the fact that they start sharing custody of their 11-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son, and that Gary has grown attracted to one of his clients, Vanessa (Jaime King).
Recently, the star of Gary Unmarried spoke to CBS News and the Press Telegram about how he landed the role and how much he is enjoying working on the CBS comedy.
The 38-year-old actor, who is best known as the grubby sports agent Bob Sugar in Jerry Maguire, was also responsible for creating the reality TV show, Last Comic Standing, which he hosted and executively produced.

As far as I know, Jay Mohr is a perfectly nice guy. But when he plays a perfectly nice guy, I just don’t believe him. I believed him as Tom Cruise’s sleazy rival in Jerry Maguire. And I believed him as the spawn-of-Griffin-Mill in the one episode of Action I saw. But Jay Mohr doesn’t fit in just anywhere, especially anywhere that requires him to seem sincere. Maybe that’s why he’s spent most of this decade drifting through parts in films like The Adventures Of Pluto Nash to a gig on The Ghost Whisperer, of all shows. The new sitcom Gary Unmarried (formerly Project Gary) doesn’t seem likely to provide a more permanent home. I’ll admit upfront that I may not be the ideal audience for a traditional sitcom with wisecracking kids, but as little affection as I have for something like Two And A Half.

Previously, fans were let in on a new fall treat entitled Project Gary, which follows a divorced painting contractor as he deals with his calculating former wife while trying to open the door to the possibility of new relationships. Premiering on Wednesday, September 24 at 8:30pm on CBS, the sitcom promises an hour long of laughter as audiences take a peek into the life of Gary Barnes, played by Jay Mohr, who was recently seen in Ghost Whisperer, playing Professor Rick Payne.
Thirty-seven year old Mohr, who left Ghost Whisperer for Project Gary, is also popularly known for his work as the creator, host and executive producer of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, which ran for three seasons with Mohr. When the show was renewed for a fourth season, he refused to work on it and thus moved on to other projects.
It seems that shows aren’t the only

Photo: Warner Home Video I started creating RopeofSilicon.com in 2003, but one year before that a little show called "Fastlane" premiered on Fox, and while it did worm its way into the first four months of 2003 that was where it died. The self-described "adult music video" has the look of C.S.I. Miami in all its warm color blasted neon, a soundtrack reserved for '90s MTV and enough female ass and sexual innuendo to make for a kick ass time. That's right folks, the "complete" series DVD set of "Fastlane" was not sent to me with the hope that I may cover it. Nope, I requested this bad boy as this is one of those guilty pleasures I was always sorry it gotten taken off the air. Tiffani and Peter had a good working relationship...

Former Saturday Night Live star Jay Mohr and his wife Nikki Cox are desperate to follow in the footsteps of broody actress Angelina Jolie - if they can afford multiple children.
Mohr - father to young son Jackson with his ex-wife, former model Nicole Chamberlain - married American actress Cox in December 2006 following the couple's 10-month engagement.
Mohr, 37, has made it clear he's ready to settle down with the 29-year-old TV star and confirms he and Cox are "working on a baby".
But Cox admits the pair is afraid they may not have the monetary means to support such a large family.
She says, "We can't wait to be blessed. We want as many children as we can hopefully and financially squeeze out."
Mohr penned best selling book Gasping for Airtime: Two Years in the Trenches of Saturday Night Live in 2004 - centred on his tumultuous stint in the comedy sketch series during the 1993-1995 seasons. Impatient with his progression to become a full cast member, he left the show on bad terms.
The actor is currently starring in U.S. comedy series Project Gary, while Cox, most widely-known for her soap opera roles and appearances on hit U.S. TV show Las Vegas, is working as a spokesmodel for online gaming website Sportsbook.com.
Hollywood star Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt are currently expecting twins. They already three adopted children together, and a biological daughter.

CBS, the only network that continues to show notable success with sitcoms -- its Monday night comedy lineup routinely beats the competition -- plans to add a second night of sitcoms on Wednesdays next season. The Worst Week will augment Monday's comedy schedule. (Ironically the show is being produced by NBC Universal Television; NBC turned it down.) The Wednesday-night shows include Project Gary, starring Jay Mohr, and the returning The New Adventures of Old Christine. TV columnist Lisa de Moraes noted in today's Washington Post that the recent writers' strike may have been a factor in Cbs's decision to ramp up its comedies. "They tend to do things like come back from strikes stronger than dramas, probably because with virtually no continuing story line, no plot momentum is lost during three-month shutdowns," she wrote. The network is also adding three new dramas, including another show based on a British hit, Eleventh Hour. The other shows are The Mentalist, about a cop who uses intuition to solve cases, and The Ex List, about a woman who is told by a psychic she must find her future husband among the men she has dated in the past or be doomed to remain single for the rest of her life.

I'm not sure how the expression "Tap that ass" began--though, I was surprised to find out that "Tap That Ass" is a drink (made with Hennessy, I'm asking for it the next time I go to Houlihan's), and a little less than surprised to find out that it's also the name of a 2003 (adult) movie. But I'm pretty sure that whomever coined the phrase had no idea that when the last syllable ("ss") escaped their lips for the first time and flew out into the pop cultural jetstream that constantly swirls around us all, it would only be a matter of time before a version of the phrase would eventually trickle down to the lips of a child actor on some new, terrible-looking CBS sitcom vehicle for Jay Mohr. Wherever he/she is, the "tap that ass" creator must be hunched forward, head in hands, staring...
