Madonna was reportedly left furious after she kicked off the French leg of her Sticky + Sweet tour - after technical faults hindered her performance.
The pop superstar took to the stage in Nice, France on Tuesday to perform to a packed out crowd, including Sir Elton John and Victoria and David Beckham.
But technical problems backstage meant the huge visual screens used throughout the show went blank during several songs.
And perfectionist Madonna was livid with her staff, according to the London Paper.
A source tells the publication, "Madonna sets very high standards for herself and for those working around her, so when things go wrong she gets annoyed."
And the presence of rocker Elton John, with who the Material Girl star has had a turbulent relationship, meant the slip-up was a double blow to Madonna.
The source adds, "With so many friends in the audience it was doubly annoying for her."

(It would seem that her feud with John – who accused her of lip-synching in 2004 – is officially ancient history.) The Devil Wears Prada star Emily Blunt is set to replace fellow Brit Kate Winslet in Sir Elton John's movie Gnomeo And Juliet.
The musician is behind the animated adaptation of Williams Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet and is reportedly keen to sign Blunt and Scottish actor James McAvoy to the lead roles.
Kate Winslet was attached to the project as the voice of Juliet but dropped out in 2006 because of scheduling conflicts.

Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? First you become Tromeo, and now -- Gnomeo. Well, people have been trying to rename you to Gnomeo for a while now. Heck, last time Cinematical wrote about the upcoming CGI feature Gnomeo and Juliet, it was 2006 and Kate Winslet and professional voice actor Greg Ellis were attached to voice the film. Almost two years later, the garden gnome romance is still hiking its way to the big screen, and The Hollywood Reporter posts that James McAvoy and Emily Blunt are in negotiations to voice the leads.
While I'm bummed to see another voice actor lose his work, there are some quirks to look forward to with this feature -- namely Elton John classics. At first, a whole new set of romantic songs were going to be penned by Tim Rice and John, but that didn't work

James McAvoy and Emily Blunt are in talks to voice the lead characters in Miramax's upcoming CGI-animated feature "Gnomeo and Juliet," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Based loosely on Shakespeare's play, the film centers on two garden gnomes lovers from rival gardens. Kelly Asbury is directing a script originally written by Rob Sprackling and John R. Smith. Rob Sprackling and John R. Smith polished the screenplay.
Produced by Elton John's Rocket Pictures, the film will also feature several of the musician's greatest hits.
McAvoy most recently starred in Universal's action hit "Wanted." Emily Blunt recently starres in "Dan in Real Life" and "Charlie Wilson's War." She will also appear in Joe Johnston's upcoming horror thriller "The Wolf Man."

Emily Blunt, the depicter of the rude and haughty senior assistant of Runway's editor in "The Devil Wears Prada" is about to trade off her stylish clothes to be a garden gnome in "Gnomeo and Juliet". Negotiating to voice the titular character, the Golden Globe Award recipient will be taking over the part of Juliet which has been left by Kate Winslet due to scheduling conflicts.
In the animation movie loosely adapted from William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", Blunt is most likely to pair up with "Wanted (2008)" star James McAvoy who is in talks to play the other titular role, Gnomeo. If both she and McAvoy struck the casting deal, this would be the pair's first project together.
Resolving the story of two deeply-in-love garden gnomes living in separate rival gardens, "Gnomeo and Juliet" will be directed by Kelly Asbury from the screenplay by Rob Sprackling, John R. Smith,

James McAvoy and Emily Blunt have signed on to voice the lead characters in the upcoming animated film Gnomeo And Juliet. As you might expect the film is a retelling of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" set in the world of garden gnomes. Elton John is taking an active role in producing the film and at one point was going to write new songs with his Lion King collaborator Tim Rice. That doesn't look to be happening any longer but John will be providing a number of his biggest hits...

Remember how Kenneth Branagh helped lead a Shakespearean revival in the 1990s? We had his Henry V, Hamlet, and Much Ado About Nothing, plus a stylish Romeo + Juliet, a more stark Hamlet starring Mel Gibson, Othello (which co-starred Branagh as Iago), Twelfth Night, and A Midsummer Night's Dream, and that's just the literal adaptations.
There was also the Oscar-winning Shakespeare in Love and modernized versions of Bard classics with the Julia Stiles tandem of 10 Things I Hate About You and O.
But in the 21st Century, we haven't seen nearly as much light breaking through yonder window. There will be a King Lear next year, and that's exciting and depressing for alternate reasons, and we're now just a couple of years away from an animated Shakespeare.
