Twin brother of Clinton Derricks-Carroll

Won Broadway's 1982 Tony Award as Best Actor (Featured Role - Musical) for "Dreamgirls." In 1986, he received a Best Actor (Musical) Tony nomination for "Big Deal."

Was the only "Sliders" (1995) cast member to stay with the series throughout its entire run.

His father, Cleavant Derricks, Sr. co-wrote Christian hymn "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" in 1938.
