No Plans For Another Batman Begins Sequel Just Yet
10 October 2008 3:57 AM, PDT
The Dark Knight screenwriter David Goyer is baffled by reports he's working on a second sequel to 2005's Batman Begins - because he hasn't even discussed the possibility with director Christopher Nolan.
Goyer was rumoured to have reteamed with Nolan to pen a script for another installment of the superhero franchise following the huge box office success of this summer's The Dark Knight.
The film has grossed $988 million (GBP534 million) worldwide since its July release.
But Goyer insists there are no plans for another Batman movie just yet, telling MTV, "It's all B.S. (bulls**t). All of it."
He adds, "Chris and I haven't even talked about it. He quite understandably is taking a long, long vacation and wants to purge himself.
"We have mused here and there (but) I mean Chris is pretty much a one-movie-at-a-time kind of guy. I wish I could tell you more. There really isn.t anything to tell."
Priestley Confirms 90210 Return
10 October 2008 3:57 AM, PDT
Latest: Actor Jason Priestley has confirmed he'll return to his former TV zip code to direct a post-Christmas episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off series, 90210.
The actor, who directed 18 episodes of the beloved teen soap he starred in, will take charge of a 90210 show in January - but he insists he won't be joining former castmates Shannen Doherty, Joe E Tata and Jennie Garth in front of the camera.
He says, "I'm coming back as a director thus far... They hired me to direct an episode in January, right after the Christmas break. I'm really looking forward to it.
"This is nothing new. I directed more episodes (of Beverly Hills, 90210) than anybody else."
Priestley hopes Doherty will return to the show for his episode, and he's looking forward to working with Garth: "I just hope that Jennie's in the episode that I do, or that Shannen's there - that'll be fun for me.
"I talk to Jennie all the time - we're actually neighbours - and she's having a great time over there (on the show)."
All My Children's Herlie Dies
10 October 2008 3:57 AM, PDT
Actress Eileen Herlie has died from complications resulting from a bout of pneumonia.
The star, real name Eileen Herlihy, passed away on Wednesday, aged 90.
Born in Scotland, Herlie began her career in the late 1940s and landed her first big role in the 1948 film adaptation of Shakespeare's Hamlet, opposite Laurence Olivier, and went on to secure parts in movies like 1958's She Didn't Say No! and 1962's Freud.
Herlie was also noted for her success on the Broadway and West End stages, where she starred opposite Richard Burton in a New York production of Hamlet in 1964. Her turn in Broadway musical Take Me Along also earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical in 1960.
But it was her role as Myrtle Lum Fargate in long-running U.S. TV drama All My Children that earned her the most recognition.
She joined the daytime soap in 1976 and was nominated four times for the Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Actress in a Supporting Role in a Daytime Drama Series between 1983 and 1986.
In recent years, she made guest appearances on sister soaps like One Life To Live, and continued to play Fargate up until her final days.
Moore Hints At Drug Past
10 October 2008 10:31 AM, PDT
Sir Roger Moore has hinted he smoked marijuana - after befriending famous "non-smoker" Tony Curtis in the 1970s.
The James Bond actor starred alongside Hollywood legend Curtis in iconic British TV series The Persuaders! after ending his run in action show The Saint.
And he admits he was surprised at his co-star's habits - because Curtis was a prominent anti-smoking campaigner at the time.
Prior to filming began on The Persuaders!, Moore visited Curtis' Los Angeles home, and was shocked to discover an ashtray in the house.
He tells U.K. TV host Jonathan Ross, "Two months later Tony arrives (in Britain) - Heathrow (airport). They find marijuana on him. He was lucky - he got fined 50 quid (pounds)."
When Ross asked, "Did you ever share a doobie (marijuana)?", Moore smiled and replied: "No... not with Tony!"

Jolie Loves Pitt's Photography
10 October 2008 10:31 AM, PDT
Angelina Jolie has a new favourite photographer - her boyfriend Brad Pitt.
The movie stud has used Jolie as his muse for a series of candid photographs published in the upcoming issue of W magazine - and she's thrilled with the result.
Jolie, who has posed for the world's best snappers, admits she's impressed by Pitt's determination to master the camera and become a true artist - even if that means an awful lot of self-criticism.
She explains, "I love his photography. Some people have a hobby, and they find the quickest way to it and are very pleased with the outcome right away.
"But he's someone who will really study the camera - he'll get the most complicated one and really understand the science behind it.
"And he's very critical of his own work. I'll see a photograph and think it's amazing, but he'll see all the different reasons why it can be better, and he'll work very, very hard to improve it."
Applegate Donates Ribbon Roses To Charity
10 October 2008 10:31 AM, PDT
The roses Christina Applegate crafted from ribbons while she was recovering from her mastectomy earlier this year are to be auctioned off for her cancer foundation.
The actress learned to make the ribbon roses when she was a child and spent hours making hundreds of them as therapy while she was in hospital.
She explains, "I learned how to do this when I was about six, and then, for some reason, every time I get a ribbon in my hand, I start making these roses, and something I did in the hospital was make hundreds of these roses.
"Then I taught everyone who would come to visit me how to make them... Anytime you would come into my room there would be, like, six people in there making these roses."
Now, the actress has gathered all the roses together for an upcoming RightActionForWomen.org charity auction.
Jolie Topples Aniston On Forbes' Celebrity Face List
10 October 2008 10:31 AM, PDT
Angelina Jolie has topped a new list to find the most popular celebrity face.
Forbes magazine's new U.S. tabloid survey suggests more people are likely to buy magazines with the new mum's face on the cover than any other star's.
Ironically, Brad Pitt's former wife Jennifer Aniston, who topped the list in 2007, came in second.
Jolie won in all Forbes categories - for sales, likability and most covers.
Tragic star Heath Ledger came in third, while Jamie Lynn Spears and Nicole Richie rounded out the top five.
Cusack's Alleged Stalker Ordered To Stay Away For 10 Years
10 October 2008 10:31 AM, PDT
Latest: Actor John Cusack's alleged stalker has accepted a plea deal in court to stay out of prison.
Emily Leatherman initially dismissed the deal in court earlier this week, but pleaded no contest to a felony count of stalking on Friday.
She was placed on probation for five years and will undergo mandatory psychiatric counselling.
A Los Angeles judge also ordered her to stay away from Cusack, his home, and business for the next decade.
Leatherman was arrested outside Cusack's home in March. In 2006, Cusack was granted a temporary restraining order, stipulating Leatherman must stay at least 500 feet (150 metres) away from him, his home, his work, his car and offices or companies where he does business.
In a statement read in court by the absent Cusack's lawyer, the actor revealed he had never met his alleged stalker and now hoped she received the help she needs.
Tisdale's Delight For Co-stars
10 October 2008 9:05 AM, PDT
Actress Ashley Tisdale has blasted rumours her High School Musical co-stars are jealous of the romance between Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens.
Efron and Hudgens began dating after they appeared together in the first installment of the film franchise.
But Tisdale, who plays Sharpay Evans in the hit movies, insists their relationship did not cause any problems on-set.
She says, "Vanessa and Zac are a great couple. We're all like brothers and sisters on the set so there's no jealousy about their romance.
"It's very sweet to see them so romantic and none of us mind seeing them like this together. They are as much in love off-screen as they are in HSM. There's such a great chemistry that it is like a fairytale."
Mendes Dreamed Of Being Calvin Klein Model
10 October 2008 9:05 AM, PDT
Actress Eva Mendes jumped at the chance to be a spokesmodel for Calvin Klein, because she was convinced it would give her career a big boost.
The Hitch star is the face of the designer's new underwear range.
She shot print and TV adverts for the campaign with fashion photographer Steve Meisel earlier this year - but the promo, which sees the actress writhing around topless, was deemed too sexy to be shown on U.S. TV in August, and several networks refused to air the footage.
But Mendes, who declared Americans too "prudish" for censoring the ad, doesn't regret making the saucy film because it fulfilled one of her teenage dreams - to follow in the footsteps of Mark Wahlberg, whose rap alter ego was Marky Mark, and supermodel Kate Moss, who both shot to stardom as Calvin Klein models.
She says, "I grew up on those ads. When Kate Moss and Marky Mark - I mean my friend Mark Wahlberg... can't say Marky cos he hates that - came out with them, I was like 15 years old. Me and my friends just went crazy. Crazy, crazy. He was so gorgeous... delicious... and still is, of course."

According to Variety, Brolin is in talks to take on the lead role in the movie adaptation of the popular 1970s DC Comic.
The No Country For Old Men star is a favourite for the title role of Hex, a former alcoholic and confederate soldier-turned-bounty hunter.
Brolin will be in good company if he takes on the role - other actors to bring comic book heroes to life include Iron Man's Robert Downey Jr., Batman's Christian Bale, and Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire.

Kim Chan, born in 1917, passed away on Sunday in Brooklyn, New York.
His Hollywood career launched when he began playing characters with some knowledge of Eastern culture, eventually landing what became his most famous roles in Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, and as Lewis' butler in Martin Scorsese's 1982 film The King of Comedy, where he appeared onscreen alongside De Niro.
The actor emigrated to the U.S. from the province of Canton, China as a young boy, discovering his desire to become an entertainer while working in his family's restaurant in the theatre district of Manhattan.
Making his film debut in 1957's A Face in the Crowd, Chan's other notable films included The Fifth Element, Lethal Weapon 4 and Shanghai Knights, where he played the father of famed martial artist and actor Jackie Chan.
He is survived by his son, Michael Chandler.
Montero Blames Missed Court Date On Work
10 October 2008 9:05 AM, PDT
Mexican singer/actor Pablo Montero skipped a court hearing last week relating to his summer arrest in Florida - because he was too busy working.
The star, real name Oscar Hernandez, was taken into custody by Miami cops for alleged cocaine possession on 11 August.
He tested positive for drugs, in violation of the terms of his probation on driving charges in 2007.
Montero was due in a Miami court last Wednesday to answer the latest charge - but he failed to appear.
His lawyer claimed the no-show was because Montero didn't gain his immigration documents in time to enter the U.S. - but the 34-year-old blames his commitments to Spanish TV show Fuego en la Sangre instead.
He says, "I couldn't leave because I was working. I petitioned to leave, but it didn't work out."
Douglas Honoured For Playground Fundraising
10 October 2008 9:05 AM, PDT
Veteran Hollywood star Kirk Douglas and his wife Anne have been honoured for their charity work at Los Angeles' High Flying Fundraiser.
The couple was praised for their work with their Anne + Kirk Douglas Playground Award programme, which aims to raise money to improve children's play areas in L.A.
The organisation recently reached its target of 400 grants, totalling $8 million (GBP4.32 million) in contributions, according to ETonline.com.
And their work was recognised by The Good News Foundation's annual fundraising luncheon last week, where the Douglases were awarded the Good News Makers of the Year accolade.
But that's not the only award the Lust For Life actor, 91, will receive this month - he is also set to be lauded at the Ambassadors for Humanity Gala Dinner on 22 October.
Simpson Auctioneer: 'O.J. Didn't Deserve Guilty Verdict'
10 October 2008 9:05 AM, PDT
An auctioneer caught up in O.J. Simpson's hotel heist has come to the defence of the former sports star, claiming he didn't deserve the guilty verdict issued in his kidnapping and armed robbery trial.
Simpson was found guilty of all 12 counts in the trial earlier this month, stemming from a heist he took part in at the Palace Station Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas last year.
The verdict came 13 years to the day since Simpson was acquitted of the double murder of his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.
But collectibles dealer Thomas Riccio, who arranged the meeting between Simpson and sports memorabilia collector Bruce Fromong, the trial's chief witness, is convinced Simpson fell victim to a biased jury, blaming his 1995 acquittal for the murder charges for tarnishing the star's reputation.
Riccio tells the New York Post, "He's no personal friend. I hardly know him. We just did two deals together. And this whole Vegas thing took only 10 hours of my life. What I'm saying isn't popular... (But) what happened 13 years ago, I don't know. I wasn't there. I only know he doesn't deserve 8,000 years plus double life for this.
"(It's) not like he actually planned an armed robbery. He was just stupid. I told him up front, 'Have security next door monitoring what goes down because... who knows...' And he said, 'No, I got my own guys with me. It's okay.' It's his guys (who) did him in. They set him up. They even had a video camera on him so they could sell it afterwards. And he covered for them, lied to cops, because these thugs were his friends... Simply saying, 'No one leaves the room until we get this figured out' constitutes kidnapping in Nevada. That automatically gets you life...
"The hate for him is such that if Satan came up from hell and sat on your lap, it wouldn't be as bad as doing business with O.J. Listen, they wanted to get him, so they got him. I'm impartial. I'm only saying this: he didn't deserve it. But 98 per cent of the people want him put away forever. Everyone hates him. My own mother hates him and says he deserves it."
Simpson, 61, and his co-defendant Clarence Stewart, are currently being held in a Las Vegas jail where they face life imprisonment when they are sentenced on 5 December.
Simpson's legal team is reportedly planning to appeal the conviction.
Hurley Tops Red Carpet Poll
10 October 2008 5:15 AM, PDT
British model/actress Elizabeth Hurley has topped a poll to find the best red carpet star of all time - for wearing a dress held together by safety pins at a film premiere.
The Austin Powers actress shot to fame when she accompanied her then-boyfriend Hugh Grant to the premiere of 1994 film Four Weddings And A Funeral wearing a barely-there Versace frock.
Hollywood legend Audrey Hepburn came second in the survey for her appearance at the 1954 Oscars wearing a white Givenchy dress.
Pretty Woman star Julia Roberts came third for wowing the crowds in Valentino at the 2001 Oscars and Catherine Zeta-Jones grabbed fourth spot for her 1999 Academy Awards appearance.
Rounding out the top five of the poll, by U.K. department store Debenhams, was Jennifer Lopez with a plunging green frock she wore at the Grammy Awards in 2000.
Tisdale: 'I Do Not Fancy Efron'
10 October 2008 5:15 AM, PDT
High School Musical actress Ashley Tisdale has never fancied co-star Zac Efron - because he is more like her brother.
The actress isn't surprised by the heart-throb's legions of female fans across the globe, but insists she has never lusted after Efron.
She tells America's Seventeen magazine, "I've never been attracted to Zac, and he's never been attracted to me - which is even more amazing! Ha!
"He always says I look hot, and I'm like, 'Aw, thanks Zac,' but really, it's more like siblings than a flirty relationship - he's seriously like my brother."
Willis' Medical Ambition
10 October 2008 5:15 AM, PDT
Actress Rumer Willis never thought she would follow in the footsteps of her famous parents - because she dreamed of becoming a doctor.
The 20-year-old - daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis - was keen to go to college to fulfil her ambitions, but realised she could sample the medical world onscreen.
She says, "For a while I thought about studying medicine at school and becoming a doctor because I've always been interested in psychology and how people's minds operate.
"But I'm able to explore some of that as an actor and ultimately I think it seems more interesting."
Efron: 'I Was A Geeky Schoolboy'
10 October 2008 5:15 AM, PDT
Hollywood hunk Zac Efron is baffled by his pin-up status - because he was such a nerd at school.
The High School Musical heart-throb was swamped by screaming girl fans at the premiere of the film franchise's third installment in London this week.
And he admits he didn't think he would turn out to be such a ladies' man - because he was a geek in the classroom.
He says, "Things can get crazy in terms of the publicity. I grew up as a regular person and want to keep it that way. I never used to get much attention from the chicks. I got good grades at school - in fact, you'd have called me a nerd."
