Does Mark Wahlberg have a good sense of humor about himself? The Max Payne star was recently asked by MTV what he thought about Andy Samberg's inspired Saturday Night Live skit, Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals. “Uh, I didn’t think it was as funny as I’d hoped,” Wahlberg admitted.
“I love when people do imitations of me; I try to get people who work with me to do it all the time,” he added, which is sort of a surprise. But Wahlberg downplayed the cultural impact of the impression, saying, “It’s not gonna be one of those things like Sarah Palin, where it’s a big deal.”
Perhaps he's right. I doubt it will be a big deal, but it was funny because of the concept and because you don't see a lot of Mark Wahlberg impressions in your day-to-day activities. It is a one-time thing,

Best Actress Oscar nominee, Salma Hayek, has given her confirmation saying that she is delightful in being a part of the Tina Fey's comedy "30 Rock". Hayek's involvement in the series is playing the role as Alec Baldwin's new love interest.
As Hayek says, "I have been a fan of Tina's talent, both as an actress and a writer, since working with her years ago on SNL." She added, " I am so excited to be part of such an intelligent, funny show, as well as working with the brilliant Alec Baldwin and the rest of the cast of '30 Rock'."
NBC, the American TV network that broadcasts the series, hasn't set an air date for Hayek's appearances but the star has signed for two episodes of "30 Rock" new season as Elisa, former Ge exec Jack Donaghy's a new love interest, played by Baldwin. Jack's previous love interests

Although it was up against the season premiere of CBS's CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which accounted for the best ratings of the season with a 14.1 rating and a 22 share, and ABC's Grey's Anatomy, which recorded a 10.1/15, Saturday Night Live Weekend Update held its own with a 7.1/11 Thursday night. The figure was particularly impressive given the fact that its lead-in, The Office, placed fourth in the time period with a 5.2/8. The show also beat the L.A. Dodgers-Philadelphia Phillies playoff game on Fox, which averaged a 6.2/10. Disappointing many viewers who had tuned in hoping to see another Tina Fey ribbing of Sarah Palin, Fey did not appear on the show. (Throughout the week there had been rumors of a Fey-Palin encounter.) The biggest surprise was the appearance of one "William Murray" in the crowd watching the faux Obama-McCain town-hall debate to ask what the candidates thought about the Chicago Cubs chances. (The bit was not far off the mark. In 1960, Richard Nixon and John Kennedy were taken to task by critics for failing to mention Pittsburgh Pirate Bill Mazeroski's World Series-winning 9th-inning homerun against the New York Yankees, which occurred a few hours prior to the third presidential debate.)

A national study has indicated that the "favorability rating" for Sarah Palin drops when viewers watch Tina Fey impersonating her on Saturday Night Live. Among a group of 314 Democratic, Republican and independent voters, Palin's favorability rating dropped to 43 percent from 47 percent after they watched Fey's parody of the vice-presidential candidate. As expected, the rating fell more sharply among Democrats and independents than it did among Republicans, who were virtually unaffected by the SNL skit. The study was conducted by Flemington, NJ-based Hcd Research and Allentown, Pa-based Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion.

U.S. vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin has sparked rumours she's set to appear on comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live - after heaping praise on funnywoman Tina Fey's impersonation of her.
Executive producer Lorne Michaels tells the New York Daily News he has not actively pursued Palin, after the series was rejuvenated by Fey's three skits as the Alaskan governor.
Republican Palin told reporters on Tuesday that she would be open to appear on the show with Fey, adding: "I love her, she's a hoot (fun) and she's so talented. It would be fun to meet her, imitate her and keep on giving her new material."
Michaels is reluctant to confirm Palin's cameo after a scheduled appearance from political opponent Barack Obama was cancelled at the last minute.
But he confirms campaign heads for Palin's running-mate, presidential candidate John McCain, called in praising Fey's first skit last month.
Michaels tells the newspaper, "I think we looked stupid... all in good time."

Rapper, movie star, Cover Girl ... Is there anything Queen Latifah can't do? Yes – discuss her sexuality. "I don't have a problem discussing the topic of somebody being gay," she told the New York Times. "But I do have a problem discussing my personal life." Queen Latifah's sexuality has been a topic of persistent speculation, the paper notes, "particularly a supposed romance with a female trainer." But the Oscar-nominee – whose newest film, The Secret Life of Bees, opens Oct. 17 – has never discussed her relationships. "You don't get that part of me. Sorry," Latifah, who recently spoofed the vice presidential debate on Saturday Night Live,

While I'm sure we'll all agree that these past few years have given us some wonderful little comedic gems, it's often unfortunate to see most of the attention thrown at one particular sex, or, in some cases, one particular man: Judd Apatow. But this post won't be about Judd Apatow, or Seth Rogen ,or Jonah Hill, or Michael Cera, or Will Ferrell, or Adam McKay, or Vince Vaughn, or Owen Wilson, or Kevin Smith ... or any of the male names that currently populate (and dominate) some of your favorite comedies. Nope, because it's about damn time we give the ladies some respect.
I'm sick of the female roles in comedies today. She's either the bland girlfriend, or the bland friend, or the bland enemy -- she's full of cliches, and only serves two purposes: 1) to help move the story along, and 2) to make her male counterpart appear funnier. That said,

Can they get Mel and Danny to sign on for this? Paul Andrew Williams (The Cottage) is rumored to be up for the job of directing the far from needed 28 Months Later. This has already been proven false. Some awful pictures of Wolfman banners are online. Netflix failed to meet its subscriber growth projections for the third quarter. It also scaled back its estimates for the end of the year. However, I still recommend everyone buy the Netflix Roku player.

American adaptations of British sitcoms are certainly nothing new, and they can range from good (The Office), to decent (Three's Company), to horrific (Coupling). Considering this television history, you might think that an American adaptation of a British sitcom has a sporting chance of being at least as watchable (if not more so) than the original, and for the most part you'd be right. Unless, of course, Fox was planning to remake the seminal 1990s Brit-com Absolutely Fabulous, or something. But they'd never do that, right? From Variety : Fox is developing a redo of Jennifer Saunders' enduring Britcom "Absolutely Fabulous," to be exec produced by Mitch Hurwitz, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum for Sony Pictures TV, Tantamount and BBC Worldwide America. Christine Zander ("Saturday Night Live") is set to write the script and will exec produce along with the BBC's Ian Moffet and original series creator...

30 Rock creator Tina Fey has signed an exclusive book deal - after her recent Emmy triumph sparked a bidding war between the world's leading publishers.
The comedienne swept the board at the Primetime Emmy Awards last month, picking up gongs for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress.
Publishers soon realised the prospects of having Fey on their roster, with offers reportedly reaching a staggering $6 million (GBP3.24 million) for her first tome.
And Fey has signed with publisher the Little, Brown Book Group, in a deal that is rumoured to be worth $5 million (GBP2.8 million).
According to New York gossip column PageSix, the book will not be Fey's memoir, but will be "non-fiction humour" to fit in with the star's performance style on America's Saturday Night Live.

Funny money, indeed! Saturday Night Live alum Tina Fey – whose NBC show, 30 Rock, just scored four Emmys – has signed a book deal with Little, Brown Book Group, the Associated Press reported Monday. There is no official word on how much Fey will be pocketing for her work – pitched as more humor than memoir. But earlier this week, the New York Post reported that competing publishers were offering close to $6 million. The mother-of-one has recently won raves for her dead-on impersonations of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. I thoroughly enjoyed the first season of "30 Rock" when I reviewed it last year. I already knew Tina Fey would be good, but I was surprised at how funny Tracy Morgan was considering he had always annoyed me on "Saturday Night Live" and it was nice to see Alec Baldwin in a role that really fits him and his deadpan delivery of some fantastic lines. The second season of "30 Rock" doesn't really "up the funny" from the first season, but it is consistent and remains a sitcom I would gladly continue to buy season after season. The major difference between the first and second seasons is a mild shift of attention as Alec Baldwin's character, Jack Donaghy, becomes the primary center of attention as do his conservative politics. Jack's relationship with a Democratic Congresswoman played by Edie Falco plays a large part in the season especially considering he is

Anne Hathaway, who was criminally underutilized while hosting SNL last weekend, has joined the cast of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, according to Hr. Disney has also announced that Helena Bonham Carter is involved, but anyone who saw the production photos which leaked out last week already knew that she was at the least, in the general vicinity. It is a Tim Burton movie after all, her husband tends to get her a lot of work. Anne is slated to play the White Queen, banished, benevolent sister of the evil Red Queen (Helena Bonham). If you're wondering who the heck the Red Queen is, in every previous version of Lewis Carroll's classic Alice tale, she's been referred to as the Queen of Hearts. The Queen of Hearts is the vicious dictator who runs around screaming "off with his head!" It looks like Burton's version will be dispensing with

There may well be a revenge on the line for Tina Fey who has impersonated Republican Vice President candidate, Sarah Palin. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that there's a chance Palin will make an appearance on "Saturday Night Live", spoofing Fey's American Express commercial ad.
It's said that there has been a debate on how to respond to the three sketches that had been done by Fey on Palin and it came to conclusion that a revenge on the NBC show would just be appropriate. If indeed Palin is plotting a sketch, her section is expected to air on Thursday, October 9 on the first of NBC's "Weekend Update" specials in prime time or on October 18 when "SNL" will not be a re-run.
At a Monday rally in the key battleground state of Florida, Palin made her first comment about Fey's parody of herself, saying "I was just trying to keep Tina Fey in business.

You know, I often say that Andy Samberg is SNL's saving grace these days. No disrespect to Bill Hader, but he's better off doing Judd Apatow movies than the lame materials he's assigned to. Samberg's offbeat and off-the-wall sense of humor provide those Digital Shorts that remain true to Saturday Night Live's original spirit of providing edgy and innovative humor. This season, however, the big buzzword is Sarah Palin, so every single week we're treated to Tina Fey's Sarah Palin skits. And since it's election season, every week those skits make headlines. Last Saturday's episode was no different. The skit, parodying the Vice Presidential debate, was the water cooler object of discussion. Even though there's a skit much funnier than that one on the same episode. One where Andy Samberg did a bang-on Mark Wahlberg impression.
