I want to thank whomever from the SciFi Channel reads my column. Back in August, I said: "SciFi Channel ... could you please go ahead and run 'Haunted' in the same way as 'Charlie Jade'?" For those who don't know, "Haunted" was a short-lived Upn program that starred Matthew Fox of "Lost" fame. The network has twice aired the first two episodes, but pulled it from their schedule once they aired. Replace "Charlie Jade" with "Haunted" at 3 a.m., and I'll be happy. Well, SciFi did me one better, and will run most of the episodes from the show in a daytime block on Oct. 9, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. My recorder is ready, so thank you, SciFi Channel! Avi Arad, ex-CEO of Marvel studios, has optioned the movie rights to the 2007 hit game Mass Effect.

Mass Effect was developed by Bioware, creators of the super-successful Knights of the Old Republic (the best Star Wars game ever on the consoles in my opinion). It is published by Video Game powerhouse Electronic Arts (EA) and was released exclusively on the Xbox 360 console and later the PC.

Avi Arad made it big when Marvel Comics went bankrupt in the mid-nineties. Toy Biz, which he helmed at the time, acquired the company in a sloppy mess of a merger/acquisition. He was instrumental in pulling Marvel out of bankruptcy and expanding the company into the film industry.

I personally think he is one of the reasons that comic book-based films are currently the hottest thing in the industry. It seems every comic property is being bought up by studios left, right and center…

"Mamma Mia!" star Amanda Seyfried will next star in Lasse Hallstrom's "Dear John," adaptation of the bestseller penned by Nicholas Sparks. She joins "Step Up" star Channing Tatum in the story adapted by Jamie Linden which follows a woman who falls for a soldier who's on leave. Linden made his big screen writing debut for "We Are Marshall" starring Matthew McConaughey and Matthew Fox. Shooting is set to begin on October 13th, filming in South Carolina with Relativity is fully financing and distributing domestically.

Latest: Actor Matthew Fox has reached a new pay deal with TV bosses, taking his Lost salary to $225,000 (GBP112,500) per episode.

The star's wage negotiations were first highlighted earlier this week (begs11Aug08), when Fox and his co-star Evangeline Lilly were rumoured to be seeking a $70,000 (GBP35,000) pay rise to keep them on the hit drama.

But Fox has now signed a lucrative new contract with ABC Studios executives, putting him in the same pay bracket as the main stars of another successful ABC series, Desperate Housewives.

The rest of the Lost cast are still reportedly trying to broker new wage deals, but representatives for ABC Studios and Fox have refused to comment.

Actors Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly have reportedly launched a bid to increase their pay by up to $70,000 (GBP35,000) per episode for their work on hit U.S. TV show Lost.

The series' stars are alleged to be in negotiations with ABC Studios to increase their rate to a reported $150,000 (GBP75,000) per show.

And the pair's bidding war has reportedly prompted other actors in the series to seek out a raise.

Cast members have reportedly banked an estimated $80,000 (GBP40,000) to $90,000 (GBP45,000) for each show prior to the negotiations.

Another day at Comic-Con, another sore rear end from the uncomfortable seats in Hall H…

Today’s events included watching the Season 3 premiere episode of Heroes, which was a huge unexpected bonus. It looks like the show is getting its mojo back and if you’re a fan you’re really going to like it when it returns this Fall.

The Lost panel was attended by the executive producers (who revealed next to nothing) and Matthew Fox (who said almost nothing). They did manage to entertain the crowd, but overall it was cotton candy: a lot of fluff but not very nourishing.

The Lost panel opened with a number of video clips that were not from the show. The first was a documentary style report about the survivors of the crash, talking about them and asking whether the situation was what it seemed, or if there was some sort of conspiracy.

Then there was what seemed like a DVD extra feature showing some of the cast members on the set, specifically the new additions from the freighter.

Executive producers Carlton Cuse and David Lindelof were in attendance.

The producers joked that there were new sponsors for the Lost panel: The Dharma Initiative. Related to that, someone came out who supposedly is the head of the Dharma Initiative, speaking as if it was real and saying that they are recruiting. So far this panel is really strange, and I suppose that’s in line with the mystery of the series. Personally I found

Oh, I can’t stand the suspense! This week, the 34th annual Saturn Awards handed out their usual fare of achievement recognizing statues.

In the event you aren’t aware of what they are, the Saturn Awards are the honors handed out by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films. The Academy has been delivering their awards for over thirty years and they look to recognize cinematic achievement.

It’s a recognized validation of the genre we so fervently appreciate.

Some of the more noteworthy recipients of the awards:

Walt Disney Studios picked up three awards, ABC’s Lost snagged four awards, and 300 picked up 2 awards.

More specifically, some of the categories that caught my eye were:

Lost star Matthew Fox's stressful, jet-setting life has wrecked his efforts to stop smoking.

The puffing actor promised to quit his bad habit at the beginning of the year, but his life has been so hectic that he hasn't been able to put the cigarettes down.

He says, "I went out to promote the movie Vantage Point and ended up travelling to nine countries in three weeks. It was incredibly stressful and I smoked a bit."

Lost star Matthew Fox has started making plans for life after the TV hit - he's bought land in Oregon.

The actor, who plays Dr. Jack Shephard on the desert island drama, admits he's had enough of paradise on Hawaii, where Lost is shot, and he can't wait to become an outdoorsman.

He says, "We're moving to Oregon. I want to be closer to my brothers and their children. We really want our kids to have tight first-cousin relationships.

"I want to enjoy fishing, hiking, skiing, mountains and fresh air."

Matthew Fox has claimed that he is the only actor in Lost to know how the show will end. Fox confirmed the news to the Daily Mirror and revealed that fellow cast members probe him for answers: "Yes, it’s true. They understand I can’t talk about it, but sometimes they’ll ask, just hoping I’ll blurt it out." Lost star Matthew Fox has been sworn to secrecy about the hit show's plot - as he's the only castmember who knows how the series will end.

The actor, who plays Dr. Jack Shephard in the show, admits his fellow stars hope he'll tell them what happens in the final episodes, which are set to be aired on TV in 2010.

But Fox insists he will never reveal the plot - because he enjoys keeping his special secret.

He says, "Yes, it's true. They understand I can't talk about it, but sometimes they'll ask, just hoping I'll blurt it out.

"Besides, having a secret is fun."

Lost star Matthew Fox has a new reason to drive carefully - he could lose his job if caught flouting the highway code.

Four characters on the hit show have been axed after the actors portraying them were arrested by Hawaii police for unruly driving.

And now Fox, who plays plane crash survivor Jack Shephard, hits the road with caution - for fear of being fired from the programme.

Fox says, "We've a running joke on the Lost set that anyone arrested for Dui (driving under the influence) gets killed off in the show. So I slow down now."

Dui incidents have plagued the Lost cast in Hawaii - castmates Cynthia Watros and Michelle Rodriguez both pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in January 2006 and April 2007 respectively. Daniel Dae Kim, who stars as the programme's Jin-Soo Kwon, was also arrested on the same charge last year. British actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje was also arrested for driving without a licence and disobeying a police officer.
