"My Mother's Friend" (with Barbara Bouchet and Carmen Villani)

A woman (Barbara Bouchet), who has just separated from her husband, comes to stay at the villa of the friend. The friend is away (and throughout the whole movie only appears as a voice on the phone), but the woman's goofy son (who looks like he just escaped from the Monkees) is staying there too. The son falls for her, not surprisingly since she always dresses in skimpy miniskirts or bikinis, and rarely closes the door when she is changing clothes or showering. It also doesn't help that he is getting a severe case of blue-balls from his own hilariously aggressive tomboy girlfriend (Carmen Villani),who is into smoking cigars and cockfighting (as in roosters)--she even has her own chick that she is raising to compete someday!

The story here is pretty inconsequential--basically which of these luscious women is the kid going to score with (you know the answer is certainly not "neither", but it could very well be "both"). If, as the title suggests, they were going for some kind of quasi-incestuous, "older woman" thing, they severely miscast this though. Bouchet, then in her early 30's, doesn't look more than five years older than the male protagonist, and is certainly unlikely to be a "friend of his mother's". (She was actually pretty much the same age as Villani). But I doubt anybody cares too much about realism in movie like this, so let me get to the most important thing--Villani: topless once, Bouchet: frequently topless and briefly full frontal.

Barbara Bouchet was a familiar figure in European exploitation films of this era, and she was in many, many movies a lot better than this. The male lead was also in the similar Italian comedy "Vice in the Family" where he got to make it with Edwige Fenech and Nieves Navarro (who were both supposed to be his AUNTS), so if nothing else he had some practice in these kind of roles. The real revelation though is Carmen Villani who is great here. Villani started out as a teenage singer in the early 1960's, kind of an Italian Britney Spears or (given the era) Joey Heatherton. I've never actually heard her singing, but she was definitely a better ACTRESS than either of those two nitwits. Unfortunately, none of her films has ever been dubbed or subtitled into English to my knowledge (including this one), but she's definitely the best thing here.
