Indy & Nightmare Get New Soundtracks

On September 30th, Walt Disney Records unveils Nightmare Revisited with 20 fresh recordings and beloved covers of the music from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Danny Elfman returns to recapture the musical landscape he masterfully created for the original The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack with two brand new recordings of the “Opening” and “Closing.” Adding a new tantalizing twist to Nightmare favorites, Nightmare Revisited also boasts Korn, Amy Lee, Plain White T’s, Rise Against, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and Flyleaf. Of course the soundtrack could not be complete without a popular ghost of Nightmare’s past: Marilyn Manson’s eerie cover of “This Is Halloween.” And on November 11th, Concord Records will release Indiana Jones: The Soundtracks Collection. This limited-edition boxed set will include all four of Oscar-winning composer John Williams’ soundtracks for the Indiana Jones film series—Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,

DVD Review: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

30 September 2008 8:17 AM, PDT | From The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news

When a legendary movie franchise returns after a long hiatus, the results don.t usually seem to be pretty. In 1990, The Godfather Part III attempted to live up to its two classic predecessors and failed miserably; it offered a decent flick at best, but not one that remotely compared to the earlier movies.

The Star Wars series returned from a 16-year break with 1999.s The Phantom Menace. Though the flick earned tons of money, it inspired widespread derision from fans. Very few . if any - find the .Prequel Trilogy. to match up to the .Original Trilogy., and many fans see Phantom Menace as the worst of the bunch.

Back in the 1980s, the Indiana Jones films reigned supreme. 1981.s Raiders of the Lost Ark, 1984.s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and 1989.s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade all found massive audiences and entertained a generation of fans.

Making a Case Against an 'I Am Legend' Prequel

25 September 2008 5:14 AM, PDT | From Rope Of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

So, Warner Bros. is moving forward with a prequel to I Am Legend. Rather than writing a good film they plan on bringing back Will Smith to reprise his role as scientist Robert Neville and chronicle the final days of humanity in New York before a man-made virus caused a plague that left Smith's character the lone survivor among a mutated mob in the city. I Am Legend helmer Francis Lawrence is returning to direct with unproven scripter D.B. Weiss penning the screenplay. I am sure some of you out there are excited about this. I don't know why, but I am sure you are out there. However, have you considered the history of prequels? Let's take a look and see what WB is getting themselves into. Red Dragon: Ratner's excuse for a Hannibal Lecter film gone awry Hannibal Rising: It's like Benjamin Button was a serial killer,

Ford Film Saved By Soccer Team

27 March 2008 5:05 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Actor Harrison Ford feared he would not complete an early installment of the Indiana Jones franchise - until he was saved by medics working for a British soccer team.

The 65-year-old suffered a chronic back injury while riding an elephant in Sri Lanka during filming on Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom in 1984.

But Ford failed to recover from his injury and was forced to seek medical treatment after returning to the U.K.

And he was surprised when help was offered by British soccer team Manchester United.

Ford says, "I couldn't find anyone to treat me in London, Harley Street doctors were afraid of the liability issues. I finally got the Manchester United team doctor to treat me.

"They had to strap me to a trolley with a bottle of nitrous oxide. I had to be carried feet first down the narrow, twisting stairs and was taken by ambulance to Manchester to see the doctor."
