Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this new feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes .

Sex & Nudity

No explict moments. Only mild references, in which Harrison Ford and Kate Capshaw describe sex metaphorically during the "Nocturnal Activities" sequence - this however is very tame and will pass unnoticed by small children.

Violence & Gore

Scenes of explict torture and violence are prominent all throughout the film. Though actual "gore" is generally low, they are a number of moments throughout the film that show strong images of blood. Sequences of genuine explict violence see a man lowered into a pit of fire and burnt alive, a man being crushed by a large machine, men eaten alive by alligators (though this is not directly shown, only implied) and at one point, a man's heart is ripped from his chest. Harrison Ford is also whipped frantically during one scene and others are run over by a mine cart. One scene implies a character is hung.

Profanity

One mention of the word "Shit", used for comic effect when Harrison Ford finds himself trapped and surrounded.

When Short Round (Ke Huy Quan) is getting whipped, Harrison Ford yells "Leave him alone you bastards!"

Characters drink and smoke respectively in a nightclub at the beginning of the film.

"Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" is generally a frightening and intense movie - it contains explict scenes of terror, though it is quite tame in the way it depicts acts of violence (for instance, many things are implied instead of being shown) in a lot of places. The dark tone and scenes displaying the Thuggee cult ceremony/sacrifice are extremely frightening. Many scenes often attempt to evoke the audience to "jump" out of their seats. Visual imagery tied with death, the occult and ancient rituals is all throughout.
