Weighing the comparative value of basketball-stars-turned-movie-stars, Chicago Sun Times columnist Bill Zwecker observed Thursday that Michael Jordan (I)'s Space Jam (1996) has now grossed $200 million since it opened last Nov. 15. By comparison Shaquille O'Neal's Kazaam (1996) has garnered only $18.9 million, while Dennis Rodman's Double Team (1997), costarring Jean-Claude Van Damme, has earned only $10.8 million. Columbia reportedly is hoping that Van Damme's overseas appeal will help boost that figure, "But that will be no thanks to Rodman, " a Columbia insider told Zwecker.

Hong Kong director Tsui Hark, who helmed the Jean-Claude Van Damme - Dennis Rodman flop Double Team (1997), has vowed to go "all out" on his second U.S. film effort, Knock Off (1998), also starring Van Damme. Tsui told today's Hong Kong Standard that he wants to use the film to display his directorial talent. The film is currently shooting in Hong Kong and will continue through the July 1 handover to China.
