For some reason it seems that the odd numbered survivor seasons aren't as
good (Except for Season 1 of course). Example: Africa- The scenery was
boring and some of the cast was interesting but overall it wasn't anything
great. Thailand- Probably the worst ever. The location was good but the
cast was the worst yet. But FINALLY that curse has ended because PEARL
ISLANDS is Great.
First off- the location is perfect. I really like the pirate theme, its
one
that hasn't been used yet and it works.
Secondly the cast is awesome. Rupert is one of my all-time favorite
Survivors. He's Richard Hatch with a heart. Osten is something else, a
lazy
guy with a good personality. Jon is a pain-in-the-ass and probably the
most
annoying Survivor since Lindsey on Survivor 3. Jon is so smug, but he
does
make the game interesting, even though you want to strangle him.
Overall- This is the only really watchable Reality Show in my opinion and
Mark Burnett is really talented. He changes things every week so people
don't get sick of it. Can't wait for season 8!! ALL STARS!

CBS hit it big with this show. "Survivor" was the best show of Summer 2000,
probably the best show of 2000 all together. It was all anyone was talking
about. I never missed an episode and each week was amazing! There were
twists and turn at every end, you had no idea who was going to get voted
off
or win the million! The show is so great, from the games, to the
interviews,
to the voting, which was always the best! An amazing show that will go down
in television history! I can't wait for Survivor II.

Even though I watch too much television, it's rare for me to become
addicted
to any show. This is a rare exception. Season one is now over, and I
thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. It's already one of my favorite
programs of all-time, and even though I have doubts about how much I will
like the next "Survivor" season, I'll always remember the first season as
genuinely entertaining (and at times, riveting) television.
Oh, and the right person won, too!

__Contains Minor Spoiler about the First Episode__ Only 2 episodes into
Survivor:Palau and its already more interesting than Vanuatu, In my
opinion. Survivor: Vanuatu was disappointing mostly because of the
bland cast, and Survivor:All Stars was both over-hyped and predictable,
but I'm happy to report that it seems that Survivor: Palau will rank up
there with the best versions of the show. One criticism I have with the
show is how they got rid of two people off the bat- I just think it was
really unnecessary. Thus far, the cast seems great and I especially
like the Koror or "the bad-news bears tribe". The people I'm rooting
for: Tom, Coby, Ian and Stephenie. That would be a FANTASTIC final
four, wouldn't it?

I'm extremely critical when it comes to television and there aren't
many shows around that I DON'T pan. Survivor happens to be one of them.
I can't get enough of this show! For me, it's really more of a game
show with a mix of reality, drama and characterisation thrown in. The
best part is that fact that these are real everyday people and not
actors, who are thrown into a fantasy situation and left to their own
devices (most of the time). I also enjoy the way certain characters
grow on you and others are repulsed as each season draws closer and
closer to the end. For some strange reason I particularly find the
contestants more attractive when they're in their natural state and in
their element than when they're back in the studio, all "glammed up"
and civilised. I wonder if I'm alone in this...
Survivor Cook Islands happens to be my all time favourite at the
moment. I don't understand the controversy surrounding the division of
teams by racial background. I'm of Asian decent and I loved it! People
will always judge and stereotype others by the way they look and this
was a perfect means of showing the world how race alone is an
unreliable measure of an individual's character. Americans seem to be
so sensitive about these issues sometimes. Political-correctness is so
ho-hum in this day and age.

First off- I enjoy Survivor:All Stars very much, but it has its share of
problems. Mostly, I would say its lack of surprises and humor. I think Lex
said it himself "This one is all business". He's right. Since everyone knows
each other (Except for Rupert, since he was just there in Panama in Pearl
Islands) it takes a big element out of the game right there. It is good to
see all the people playing, but when 2 people quit and one team keeps
winning ALL THE TIME, it takes a lot out of the game. Again, I wouldn't say
Survivor:All Stars is a waste, because I do enjoy it, but it was nothing I
pictured.
If either Rupert, Tom, Lex, Kathy or Alicia happen to win, I'll be happy. If
its Jenna Lewis, Rob, Amber, Jerri or Shii Ann, I'll just want to forget
about it.
B+ so far.

Letting the oldest pick teams is interesting, but to me It gives two people
too much power right off. I will be very surprised not to see one of those
two in the final 4. As to whether youth is better than experience, I think
we have already seen the results there. I was actually hoping for a war of
the sexes, I thought that would be . an additional plot point.
I would also like Mr Probst to let us see a little more about how the
participants are picked for challenge elements. It seems like they always
cut away and come Back. If Ghandia wanted to do that puzzle and froze up,
that should tell us a lot about her. If nobody wanted to do that puzzle and
she was the only one willing to step up, that would tell us a whole lot
about the rest of her team. Staying under the radar is one thing,
sacrificing the teams efforts is another. I think it is fair to say that
Rob Mariano in the Marquesas series showed us all what killing off your own
team for personal power gets you.

I don't know how anyone can say that this is the worst season of
Survivor ever -- the initial challenge - just getting to their camps -
was an 11 mile trek through very dense jungle. That sure seems
challenging to me. And what a way to start off a 39-day contest! Wow! I
think it's just because no one from either tribe has made a big
impression or stood out yet, at least for me, anyway. You know, I don't
think people have figured out who to cheer for yet. But, it is still
early; someone will pull to the forefront eventually. We might not like
who it is, but that's the whole point now, isn't it? There have been
ties in tribal council in past seasons. There always is some sort of
tie-breaker. I am withholding judgement on "worst/best" until I've seen
more.

This show comes up with interesting locations as fast as the travel
channel. It is billed as reality but in actuality it is pure prime time
soap opera. It's tries to use exotic locales as a facade to bring
people into a phony contest & then proceeds to hook viewers on the
contestants soap opera style.
It also borrows from an early CBS game show pioneer- Beat The Clock- by
inventing situations for its contestants to try & overcome. Then it
rewards the winner money. If they can spice it up with a little
interaction between the characters, even better. While the game format
is in slow motion versus Beat The Clock- the real accomplishment of
this series is to escape reality.
This show has elements of several types of successful past programs.
Reality television, hardly, but if your hooked on the contestants,
locale or contest, this is your cup of tea. If your not, this entire
series is as I say, drivel dripping with gravy. It is another show
hiding behind the reality label which is the trend it started in 2000.
It is slick & well produced, so it might last a while yet. After all,
so do re-runs of Gilligan's Island, Green Acres, The Beverly
Hillbillies & The Brady Bunch. This just doesn't employ professional
actors. The intelligence level is about the same.

IT DOES!!!!!! This is awesome, and in my personal opinion I think the
people on this version are a lot more likable, except for three (Jerri,
Kimmie, and Debb). The new version is filled with likable people, who you
really want to get far in this game. Among my favorite survivors are
Rodger,
Elisabeth, Alicia, and really everybody else. Each episode is filled with
adventure, even more than the original. I remember watching the original
and towards the beginning I thought it was a bit boring with all those
people who I didn't know, but once I watched it, I was hooked. With this
one, from the VERY first episode, i was hooked. This is a great
television
show, and I can't wait to find out what happens next!
