Trivia:

The final frame of the introduction was changed for seasons beyond the first. At the end of the credits in the first season, all that could be seen was a big "American Dad!" logo in front of the American Flag. In all subsequent scenes, this logo was shrunk to fit the names to the series creators on the same screen.

Goofs:

Factual errors: In the first episode, the man whose brain was switched with Klaus's is shown at the 1986 Winter Olympics. There was no Winter Olympics in 1986; Winter Olympics were held in the same years as Summer Olympics (for example, 1984 in Sarajevo, and 1988 in Calgary) until 1994.

Quotes:

Stanley Smith: Son, if you ever get captured by any terrorists in the neighborhood and end up on al-Jazeera, just blink you location in Morse code. I'll have a bomb dropped on your location immediately.
Steve Smith: But, Dad, then I'd get killed too.

Ahead of its time...

I love this show. It's such a relief to see a show like "American Dad," especially on Fox. It can't be helped that some people are too unconscious to understand the desperately needed, hilarious criticism that it offers. It's "Sullivan's Travels" meets "Dr. Strangelove," rolled up into an animated series. Yeah, it's probably too smart for the masses, but we have to start somewhere. If it's marketed like "The Family Guy," during DVD release, then hopefully it will later be recognized for its absolute brilliance. Speaking of brilliance, airing the first episode immediately after the Super Bowl was unquestionably the most impeccably timed programming in the history of television. Did I mention that I love this show? That I need this show for sustenance?
