He's only just become the official Democratic nominee, but it seems Barack Obama already has the celebrity vote sewn up. His moving acceptance speech at Denver's 2008 Democratic National Convention was watched by a bevy of cheering stars Thursday night. One of the most moved? Oprah Winfrey, a longtime supporter, who told the Associated Press, "I cried my eyelashes off." "I think it's the most powerful thing I have ever experienced," added the daytime queen, comparing his words to Martin Luther King Jr.'s iconic "I Have a Dream Speech." (Fitting, then, that Obama's prime-time speech fell on the 45th anniversary

38-year-old New York actor Ken Leung ("Rush Hour," "Saw," "The Squid and the Whale") may have only gigged on a single episode of "The Sopranos" (as Junior Soprano's violent protégé in a psychiatric hospital), but it was enough to inspire producers to write him into another TV pop phenomenon, "Lost." As brooding spiritualist Miles Straume, one of the elusive strangers to parachute onto the island, Leung brings to the role both quiet menace and caustic wisecracks.
Leung can also be seen in writer/director David Kaplan's rotoscope-animated indie "Year of the Fish," a contemporary retelling of the Cinderella fairytale set in a seedy massage parlor and the streets of Chinatown. Leung costars as Johnny, an accordion player who may also be the Prince Charming to disillusioned immigrant Ye Xian (An Nguyen). Notoriously shy, Leung graciously offered up a phone interview from Hawaii while preparing to shoot

Bizarre mysteries, complicated relationships and enigmatic characters; is Fox.s "Fringe" a new "Lost?" Not according to J.J. Abrams who believes the shows couldn.t be more different. Of course, given the way .Fringe. opens, many viewers may believe otherwise as the series launches into the world of the weird following a very troubled flight. .It's almost embarrassing, but I wasn't even thinking about that,. Abrams told TV Guide, referring to the similarity with the castaway drama. .The idea for that sequence came to me, and then I thought, .Oh, Lord.. Then I was like, .Do we change it?. But the story could not be less like 'Lost.' To me, there's just something about airplanes. I was obsessed with the .Airport. movies when I was a kid. I saw all of them, including .The Concorde: Airport ...

Remember the Seinfeld episode about Frank Costanza and his TV Guide collection? He'd kept every issue going back who knows how many years, and when I was growing up, I knew somebody like that. But acknowledging that most people no longer save their magazines, I think there's a new issue of TV Guide that will be of interest to certain collectors.
J.J. Abrams, whose kids will have no trouble going to a good school thanks to hits like Felicity, Alias, and Lost, is juggling television and film quite nicely. His Mission: Impossible is underrated, and his production company, Bad Robot, has already backed Cloverfield and has a few other interesting sounding projects in queue.
But what everyone's looking forward to is Abrams' new version of Star Trek. Abrams will re-launch the U.S.S. Enterprise next May, although the film was the first 2008 blockbuster to shift to summer 2009. This time,

There are more Fast and Furious updates than we can shake a stick at. First, as the seven of you who paid to see Death Race this weekend already know, the new trailer for next summer's Vin Diesel-Paul Walker reunion flick has debuted. MySpace has the cleanest copy I've seen of it, so we decided to go with this one instead of the pirated copies on YouTube (most of which don't have sound).
The best thing about it, with apologies to those who think Jordana Brewster's still on the way up, is the tagline. That's not saying a whole lot. Of course, then again, removing my critic hat, I kind of dug the racing in Tokyo Drift for what it was. The plot was crap, but it was still a lot more entertaining as a viewer than anything in 2 Fast 2 Furious. The director of the third film,

This story contains Minor Spoilers for the upcoming season of "Lost." Someone call Haley Joel Osment because fans of ABC's "Lost" are seeing dead people. Michael Ausiello over at Entertainment Weekly says Michelle Rodriguez, who played police officer Ana Lucia before getting blown away by Michael, is coming back for one episode, likely the second of the season. Rodriguez was one of several cast members of the show that seemed to run into problems with police while shooting in Hawaii, and also seemed to be part of the same group of actors who found their characters facing surprising deaths soon after, although producers claim the timing between DUIs and death were just coincidental. How Ana Lucia will return since she seemed pretty dead is not certain, but Ausiello is speculating that it ...

The latest horror thriller flick from "Cloverfield"'s scribe Drew Goddard, "Cabin in the Woods", has received its theatrical release date. The MGM's film that is yet to begin production is slated to be debuted on the big screen on October 23, 2009.
The date chosen put "Cabin" in theaters exactly a week before the sixth installment of slasher movie series, "Saw VI", hits. Meanwhile, "Saw VI" itself which will be directed by the editor of "Saw" series, Kevin Greutert, has been locked to the October 30, 2009 release.
Though details of "Cabin" are scarce, it has been noted that the movie will be directed and co-written by Goddard, who is known for his work in television series "Lost". In scripting the screenplay, he will be accompanied by Joss Whedon, the writer for '90s pop television series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer".

This column contains Moderate Spoilers for the BBC series, "Primeval." First things first ... I want to again mention that "Charlie Jade" continues to be shown on the SciFi Channel. The bad news is that it is running Tuesdays at 3 a.m. The reason I mention it is that I keep running into people who liked the show but didn't know it was still airing. So, you have been notified! SciFi Channel, I have a related request ... if you did this for "Charlie Jade," could you please go ahead and run "Haunted" in the same way? For those who don't know, "Haunted" was a short-lived Upn program that starred Matthew Fox of "Lost" fame. The network has twice aired the first two episodes, but pulled it from their schedule once they aired. Replace "Charlie Jade" with "Haunted" at 3 a.m., and ...

Latest: Actor Matthew Fox has reached a new pay deal with TV bosses, taking his Lost salary to $225,000 (GBP112,500) per episode.
The star's wage negotiations were first highlighted earlier this week (begs11Aug08), when Fox and his co-star Evangeline Lilly were rumoured to be seeking a $70,000 (GBP35,000) pay rise to keep them on the hit drama.
But Fox has now signed a lucrative new contract with ABC Studios executives, putting him in the same pay bracket as the main stars of another successful ABC series, Desperate Housewives.
The rest of the Lost cast are still reportedly trying to broker new wage deals, but representatives for ABC Studios and Fox have refused to comment.

J.J. Abrams, who helped realize the worlds of Lost and Cloverfield, is asking you to brace yourself once again. Along with screenwriter David Seltzer, Abrams is preparing a disaster movie for Universal with an earthquake at its center.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the movie is not a remake of the 1974 disaster classic called Earthquake, which spawned one of the sillier Universal Studios theme park attractions. The Reporter also indicates that Abrams is only on board as a producer, at least for now. Though we'll see what he can do with Star Trek, he's probably a better writer-producer than he is a director, at least at this stage.
For Cloverfield, of course, he chose Matt Reeves, who was not exactly the action director on everyone's lips. If I had to guess, I'd say he'll lean on one of the writer-directors he's used on his series in the past, just as he did for Reeves.

Obviously inspired by the recent earthquake here in Los Angeles, J.J. Abrams (Cloverfield, Lost, The Fringe) will join David Seltzer, the screenwriter of the original Omen, to shake up audiences with a disaster flick for Universal involving an earthquake. You can read all of the details inside, although - per usual - plotlines are being kept under lock and key. The project is untitled and not intended to be a remake of Universal's 1974 movie "Earthquake." That film, released in the middle of that decade's disaster-flick frenzy that famously used "Sensurround" -- really just cranked-up bass -- to enhance the experience and became part of its popular studio tour. Read on for more.
