Although it was up against the season premiere of CBS's CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which accounted for the best ratings of the season with a 14.1 rating and a 22 share, and ABC's Grey's Anatomy, which recorded a 10.1/15, Saturday Night Live Weekend Update held its own with a 7.1/11 Thursday night. The figure was particularly impressive given the fact that its lead-in, The Office, placed fourth in the time period with a 5.2/8. The show also beat the L.A. Dodgers-Philadelphia Phillies playoff game on Fox, which averaged a 6.2/10. Disappointing many viewers who had tuned in hoping to see another Tina Fey ribbing of Sarah Palin, Fey did not appear on the show. (Throughout the week there had been rumors of a Fey-Palin encounter.) The biggest surprise was the appearance of one "William Murray" in the crowd watching the faux Obama-McCain town-hall debate to ask what the candidates thought about the Chicago Cubs chances. (The bit was not far off the mark. In 1960, Richard Nixon and John Kennedy were taken to task by critics for failing to mention Pittsburgh Pirate Bill Mazeroski's World Series-winning 9th-inning homerun against the New York Yankees, which occurred a few hours prior to the third presidential debate.)

Knight is the latest celebrity to donate to the cause; Brad Pitt, Pete Wentz and Steven Spielberg have all pledged money to the campaign.
The donations comes days after organisers of the movement accused Hollywood stars of not doing enough for the cause.

A few days ago, BuddyTV’s very own Debbie Chang reviewed CBS’ The Ex List, which began airing as a fall offering last week. The show, which stars Grey's Anatomy's Elizabeth Reaser, follows 30something Bella as she embarks on a journey to find Mr. Right (within a time frame of one year), a task she must complete or else she'd spend the rest of her life alone, a psychic warns her. The catch is that she has already found Mr. Right and his name is in her list of failed relationships. Recently, Elizabeth Reaser spoke to TV Guide to reveal some thoughts on her character, which is lighter and more fun than her heavy drama counterpart on Grey’s Anatomy.
"I'm always being tragic, anything where they're making a buffoon out of me, I love," she told TV Guide. "The more buffoonery, the better!"
But kidding aside, Reaser says

Patrick Dempsey and his wife have no decent photo memories of their wedding day - because their photographers were drunk.
The Grey's Anatomy star married Jillian Fink in 1999, but their big day was almost ruined when the snappers drank too much alcohol before the ceremony.
He says, "We just had really drunk photographers. And they didn't take one decent picture.
"The best pictures came from the disposable cameras that were on the table and that was what we ended up putting together. That was the only disastrous moment. But it was kind of entertaining."

Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey has apologised to U.S. politician Hillary Clinton for jokes made at her expense in his recent movie Made Of Honor.
The film opened with a gag about Clinton's husband Bill's affair with intern Monica Lewinsky and the actor insists he felt uncomfortable about the scene - because he knew the New York senator is a fan of his work.
And Dempsey even tried to persuade the film's director to cut the jokes from the picture.
He says, "I felt quite bad and wanted to speak to Hillary about it, knowing that she's a huge fan of (TV show) Grey's Anatomy and has been going to see my movies since day one, but I just didn't have the heart.
"So I want to say, 'I'm sorry Hillary that I didn't warn you about what was going to happen. I tried to get the scenes cut, only I didn't win the battle.'"

Olympic Gold medalist Michael Phelps showed some acting skill in the spoof for "Grey's Anatomy". As part of 60th Primetime Emmy Awards pre-show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live" presented a segment called "Big Night of Stars" where Jimmy shows a footage where he appears with Michael in a parody of the medical drama.
In what apparently looks serious at the beginning, the so-called trailer to the show's new season is inserted with a scene where a new doctor, played by Michael, is introduced as Dr. McSwimmy. Striking a difference, the newbie walks in the hall of Seattle Grace Hospital in tight swimming trunk and no shirt on.
The show's cast Justin Chambers aka Dr. Dr. Alex Karev and Eric Dane, aka Dr. Mark Sloane appear on the segment with Michael.
The new season of "Grey's Anatomy" will air on Thursday, September 25 on ABC at 9:00 P.M.

Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo has defended her decision to dress down for her 2007 wedding.
The actress wore a black Yves Saint Laurent dress and boots as she married record producer Christopher Ivery last year.
And the star admits she snubbed the traditional white gown and veil because she always wears stunning dresses for work.
She tells Allure magazine, "I get to dress up all the time. I completely understand women wanting a wedding, because most people don't get to dress up in gorgeous dresses and have their hair and make-up done.
"I, however, am fortunate enough that I get to put on beautiful dresses and make-up and jewels all the time."
