Teardrop Diamond pic

27 August 2008 11:37 AM, PDT | From JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news

That handsome devil Brad from "Rope of Silicon" recently scored a first look at the absolutely stunning Bryce Dallas Howard in the Tennessee Williams scripted and Jodie Markell (from HBO's "Big Love") directed drama The Loss Of A Teardrop Diamond. In it, Howard plays an uptight uppity snob who falls in love with a working class schmoe (Chris Evans) but when she tries to pass him off as high society sensing her family's disapproval, things get all janky. House Star Dudek Is Pregnant

22 July 2008 6:35 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Former House actress Anne Dudek is expecting her first child with artist husband Matthew Heller.

Dudek, whose character Dr. Amber Volakis was killed off the medical drama, is nearly five months pregnant.

The 33 year old showed off her bump for the first time at the premiere of season two of her new show Mad Men in Los Angeles on Monday.

She told reporters, "I'm having a baby."

And she revealed her unborn baby will be making its acting debut in another show she has a part in - Big Love.

Dudek continues, "The thing is I haven't been that pregnant while I've been working on House or Mad Men or Big Love. But Big Love we're going to be filming for a while and I'm starting to get a little bigger now."

Deflation On Hill

20 July 2008 1:26 AM, PDT | From NYPost.com | See recent New York Post news

'When Hillary Clinton's once- inevitable presidential campaign became this year's Betamax, the anti-Hillary industry was left bereft, its dreams of selling Hillary voodoo dolls and barf bags suddenly dashed," writes James Kirchick in Portfolio magazine.

David Bossie could not release 'Hillary: The Movie' during her campaign because of Federal Election Commission regulations. The restrictions were lifted, "but the movie's potential audience seems greatly diminished."

A Web site, StopHerNow.com, has changed its name to Stop-Him-Now.com. Its credo is "Saving America from the radical leftist agenda of Barack Obama.

Mamma Mia: Seyfreid Talks On-Set Romance, 'Alice in Wonderland'

18 July 2008 2:17 PM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

You can't help but wonder if Mamma Mia! will be the breakthrough role for Amanda Seyfried. True, audiences have seen her in Mean Girls and Big Love, but she's in a much bigger spotlight here, singing and acting alongside Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth.

"Before I got the role, I used to sing, but not professionally," she tells The Daily Mail, "and as soon as I heard about Mamma Mia! I knew I had to do it. I was nervous singing for [Abba members] Benny and Björn and I just did the best I could."

Adds Seyfried, "But nothing in the film was really that challenging as I was basically playing myself. Sophie’s a young girl excited about life, so it just felt right."

That's not the only thing that felt right, apparently. Though you rarely hear such talk when these things fizzle, the 22-year-old actress is remarkably candid

Movie Review - 'Mamma Mia!'

17 July 2008 11:55 PM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

Mamma Mia!

Starring Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth

Directed by Phyllida Lloyd

Rated PG-13

I have decided to not stop writing my review of Mamma Mia! until I run out of bad things to say about it. Pack a lunch; you're going to be here a while.

First, I should be a champ and tell you what I liked about it. Ok, fair enough: Greece looks absolutely beautiful whenever this film was shot; though she hasn't needed to be impressive in her past few roles, Meryl Streep clearly still has that thing that only she has, especially when she belts out the only truly worthwhile musical number in the movie, "The Winner Takes it All;" and Amanda Seyfried (Big Love) is incredibly exuberant and happy to be here.

And now that that's out of the way...

You've been to a party or on a night out

Abba-dabba Do!

17 July 2008 9:23 PM, PDT | From NYPost.com | See recent New York Post news

Meryl Streep belts out songs, wears overalls and does a split in "Mamma Mia!," an exuberant if not always brilliantly crafted adaptation of the campy Abba musical.

It's a fun, crowd-pleasing alternative for an audience whose idea of entertainment runs more to infectious '70s pop ditties, spandex, sex-starved women of a certain age and bare-chested hunks than watching a caped sadist torturing criminals.

Faithfully based on the stage musical that has been packing them in around the world for years, the movie isn't as delightful as the current Broadway production, which is more of a gas than I could ever have imagined.

More Emmy Shortlists, More 'Bsg' Snubs

1 July 2008 4:25 AM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

A few more of those wonderful shortlists of nominees for the upcoming Emmy awards are out, and once again, genre fans will have to basically settle for a "Lost" fix. Michael Emerson and Naveen Andrews, who play Ben Linus and Sayid respectively in the ABC series, have made an expanded list of finalists to be Emmy nominees in the supporting drama actor category, joining the likes of Bruce Dern from "Big Love," Christian Clemenson from "Boston Legal," Ted Danson from "Damages," Zeljko Ivanek from "Damages," T.R. Knight from "Grey's Anatomy," William Shatner from "Boston Legal," John Slattery from "Mad Men," Blair Underwood from "In Treatment" and Jake Weber from "Medium." There was absolutely no love for genre shows in the supporting actress category in drama, but in terms ...

Early Emmy Predictions Not Good For Sci-Fi

9 June 2008 12:52 AM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

It seems that Mary McDonnell has a better chance than anyone from SciFi Channel's "Battlestar Galactica" to be nominated for an Emmy award, but even her chances aren't that great. The Los Angeles Times' The Envelope Web site has released its predictions on who could be up for the coveted television statue and who won't when nominees are announced July 17, and it's not looking very good for science-fiction ... as usual. McDonnell is listed among 13 actresses considered to be a "favorite" by the paper to be nominated in the Drama Series Actress category, a list that also includes Evangeline Lilly from "Lost" but also has some big-time names like Chloe Sevigny from HBO's "Big Love," Glenn Close from "Damages," Kyra Sedgwick from "The Closer" and Sally Field from "Brothers & ...

Prospects for Emmy Nominees

Propects for Emmy acting awards

From drama, comedy and miniseries, these actors are up for the part.

By Tom O'Neil, The Envelope

June 4, 2008

Emmy's winners for acting are chosen in a three-tier system by actors who belong to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. During the first two weeks of June, they participate in a popular vote that determines a Top 10 runoff in each race. Finalists submit a sample episode of their best work to judges, whose scores are combined by accountants in a 50-50 mix with results of the original popular vote. The five nominees in each category are then announced July 17. Winners are decided based on judges' scores of the sample episodes and are revealed at the awards ceremony to

Chris Eigeman on "Turn the River"

8 May 2008 2:25 PM, PDT | From ifc.com | See recent IFC news

By Stephen Saito

One of Chris Eigeman's favorite performances in his directorial debut, "Turn the River," comes from an actor who has all of three lines and plays a pimply faced donut shop employee who tells his potential customers that he already drank the coffee. It's the kind of droll one-liner that one could easily imagine rolling off Eigeman's tongue during his heyday as the quick-witted star of Noah Baumbach's "Kicking and Screaming" and Whit Stillman's trilogy of "Metropolitan," "Barcelona" and "The Last Days of Disco." But "Turn the River" isn't the intellectual yukfest one might expect from an actor with a reputation for snark and smarts, but rather the heartfelt character study of Kailey (Famke Janssen), a mother forced to give up her son Gulley (Jaymie Dornan), who attempts to raise enough money through hustling at pool and poker to steal him away from his father.

Ginnifer Goodwin on Making Out with Drew's Beau: 'Our Bodies Rebelled'

8 May 2008 8:20 AM, PDT | From PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news

Kissing Justin Long? Let's say she's just not that into it. Actress Ginnifer Goodwin is a pro at acting out awkward situations – after all, she plays a polygamist's wife on Hbo's Big Love. But one recent sex scene for He's Just Not That Into You pushed her over the edge. "[Costar] Justin Long and I have been friends for going on eight years," she told People at Wednesday's Women in Film luncheon, where she was honored as the MaxMara Face of the Future Award. "And when it came time for us to be intimate in the film, I think our bodies both rebelled.
