Gary Unmarried: "Pilot"

24 September 2008 8:24 PM, PDT | From avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news

As far as I know, Jay Mohr is a perfectly nice guy. But when he plays a perfectly nice guy, I just don’t believe him. I believed him as Tom Cruise’s sleazy rival in Jerry Maguire. And I believed him as the spawn-of-Griffin-Mill in the one episode of Action I saw. But Jay Mohr doesn’t fit in just anywhere, especially anywhere that requires him to seem sincere. Maybe that’s why he’s spent most of this decade drifting through parts in films like The Adventures Of Pluto Nash to a gig on The Ghost Whisperer, of all shows. The new sitcom Gary Unmarried (formerly Project Gary) doesn’t seem likely to provide a more permanent home. I’ll admit upfront that I may not be the ideal audience for a traditional sitcom with wisecracking kids, but as little affection as I have for something like Two And A Half.

DVD Links: Release Dates | New Dvds | Reviews | RSS Feed Desperate Housewives - The Complete Fourth Season Ahhhh, I have not yet received my review copy but I am told it is on the way. I actually loved the first season of this show, but subsequent seasons weren't able to live up to that first year. "Desperate Housewives" was always a soap opera, but it had a little something extra that made it entertaining. In follow-up seasons it almost became a parody of that first season and was never quite as good. While I haven't heard much (good or bad) about this fourth season I am looking forward to giving it a shot. Transformers (2-Disc Special Edition) Transformers is now on Blu-ray and for some reason no one seems to care, at least not to the level they did last year when Paramoung went HD DVD exclusive and Transformers wasn't released

'Ghost Whisperer' Star Talks About Drinking Habits and Health Issues

1 September 2008 11:00 PM, PDT | From buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news

Jennifer Love Hewitt, the star of the Emmy Award-nominated CBS series Ghost Whisperer, is one actress who sets herself apart from the rest of the Hollywood hip crowd.  In fact, the 29-year-old Saturn Award-winner is a self-professed good girl who really wasn’t into the drinking and partying scene while growing up in the spotlight.

"I’ve never been a big partier. I grew up around a lot of kids my age who went that way, and they lost more than they ever got from living that lifestyle," Jennifer Love Hewitt told Health magazine.  "It just was not my thing."

She also points out that she isn't completely alcohol-free, as she "does do enjoy a glass of wine or a beer on a hot day."  However, for her, it's a matter of priorities and self-control when it comes to dealing with the drinks.

"It’s my job to look fresh

Jennifer Love Hewitt: I Wish I'd Spent More Time Naked

Jennifer Love Hewitt is looking forward to turning 30 – but if she could turn back the clock, she would have spent more time showing off her figure. "I wish I had been nude from the time I was 12 until I was 28. I looked great!" the Ghost Whisperer actress, 29, tells Health magazine in its September issue. "I so wish I had listened to my mom and grandma when I was 18 and would complain about some little tiny bump or feeling bloated," says the star, who is engaged to Scottish actor Ross McCall. Love Hewitt Hit Back At Weight Critics With New Figure

15 August 2008 9:07 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Jennifer Love Hewitt has hit back at critics who ridiculed her for putting on weight - by showing off her new slimline figure in a U.S. magazine.

The Ghost Whisperer star was infamously snapped in her black two-piece swimsuit as she enjoyed a dip in the sea in November, sporting a slightly bulkier frame than usual.

The weight-gain attracted much unwanted attention, with celebrity website TMZ.com profiling the snaps alongside the headline: "We know what you ate this summer, Love . everything!"

And the star went on to lash out at the media, saying, "It made me feel a little embarrassed to be honest. It made me a little sad. It hurt my feelings."

But Love-Hewitt has had the last laugh, after shedding 18 pounds (8.16 kilograms) through a rigorous exercise programme.

She tells Usmagazine.Com, "I am in a pretty good workout regimen that I like, so it inspired me to keep it up. The energy level and the way I feel now is great."

And Love Hewitt's trainer, Stevie Sant'Angelo, insists the dramatic image overhaul has nothing to do with the unflattering snaps.

He adds, "She told me, 'They said some rude, mean things, but that's not why I wanted to change.'"

Love Hewitt Won't Face Legal Action Over Ghost Whisperer

31 July 2008 12:03 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Jennifer Love Hewitt's former management company has dropped an unpaid commission lawsuit against the actress.

Executives at Handprint Entertainment filed suit against the star in April 2007, accusing her of reneging on a verbal deal to pay 10 per cent commission for every deal they secured for her while she was their client.

The management team claim they helped Love Hewitt land the lead role in hit TV show The Ghost Whisperer.

But Love Hewitt parted ways with Handprint Entertainment in 2005 - the same year Ghost Whisperer premiered on U.S. TV.

Handprint Entertainment heads wanted at least $375,000 (GBP187,500) in damages, after alleging the show brought the actress back "to national prominence as a TV star".

However, in a request filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, the management firm's bosses have asked for a judge to dismiss the suit.

An attorney for the company has refused to comment on the reasons for the move, but the legal papers state the request was filed "with prejudice" - meaning the plaintiff has decided not to pursue the case in the future.

Thirty-seven year old Mohr, who left Ghost Whisperer for Project Gary, is also popularly known for his work as the creator, host and executive producer of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, which ran for three seasons with Mohr.  When the show was renewed for a fourth season, he refused to work on it and thus moved on to other projects.

Despite having having been killed off in the franchise, it seems as if Kennedy could still be involved once again as Randy. "I actually had a conversation with somebody very big in the organization, and theres a way," he tells iF. "I dont know whats going to happen, but they have plans for a lot of things. You can see new faces that you wouldnt expect and you can see old faces that you wouldnt believe. Theres a way to bring a lot of things around."
