The Crime Scene: "Finding Freebo"
From Showtime: "Dexter and Rita have to make a big decision about their family, forcing Dexter to think about what it means to be responsible for kids. Is he ready to commit to this new family? Meanwhile, Dexter and Assistant District Attorney, Miguel Prado, find themselves hunting down the same murderer, Freebo, the man accused of killing Miguel’s little brother. As a result, Debra and the Homicide department are tasked to find Freebo. Debra, through her supposedly dirty partner, Quinn, is introduced to a C.I. and musician named Anton, in the hopes of drumming up a lead on where Freebo may be. With the fall season's heavy hitters already starting to make an appearance, this week's feast of indie offers some calm before the big studio storm. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Celebrated Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar-wai gathered together lost and damaged footage to painstakingly rework his only martial arts epic, first released in 1994, into a fresh, definitive edition (complete with an all new score from Yo-Yo Ma). With a blindingly colorful palette, Wong paints a looping, stylized portrait of an embittered agent Ouyang Feng (the late Leslie Cheung) who channels the unbearable pain of a broken heart into commissioning bounty hunters to commit acts of vengeance. Tony Leung Ka Fai, Maggie Cheung, Carina Lau and Jacky Cheung round out the still-impressive cast.
Opens in New York and Los Angeles.

The following contains Moderate Spoilers for the eighth season of The CW's "Smallville." Although he has appeared in guest starring roles in numerous television shows (including "Dexter," "Bones," "CSI," "Angel," and "Cold Case," Sam Witwer is likely best known to genre fans as Crashdown in the SciFi Channel series, "Battlestar Galactica." The actor, always interested in taking a challenging role, has joined the cast of "Smallville" as Davis Bloome, an emergency medical technician who will be revealed as Doomsday, an enemy of Superman in the comics. "Although the show's producers did audition other actors for the role, they were literally banging my door down to get me to play the role," Witwer told SyFy Portal's Wayne Hall. "They were super-persistent. Besides, I feel ...

The Motion Picture Association of America has sentenced Punisher: War Zone with an R-rating. According to Chud, the R was granted for "pervasive strong brutal violence, language and some drug use."
Everyone who watched the red band trailer for Punisher: War Zone saw the exact same thing: disgusting, humiliating, bone-chilling violence at its absolute brainiest. For fans of Garth Ennis' run on Punisher for Marvel's Max imprint, this was a very good sign. But panic broke shortly over speculation that the film would be watered down in pursuit of a PG-13 rating.
The rumors stemmed from reports that director Lexi Alexander had been unceremoniously dropped from the project due to conflicts with Lionsgate. Alexander reportedly disagreed with Lionsgate's desire to pull punches with the violent content and their desire to use heavy metal music instead of the planned original score. All signs pointed to yet another cajones-free Punisher film.

Sony's new movie Quarantine may look like just another zombie movie, but it's just another movie with Dexter's ugly-sexy sister, Jennifer Carpenter. The premise is pretty simple. A team of firefighters and a reporter are in a building investigating something unknown, when the Cdc quarantines it, trapping them inside. The unknown thing, happens to be an infection. A zombie infection, judging from these three new clips for the film, below:

A TV stuntman is lucky to be alive after actor Jimmy Smits stabbed him for real during a fight scene for TV show Dexter.
Smits grabbed a real knife instead of a prop knife during shooting and plunged it into action man Jeff Chase.
Chase was only saved by a piece of plastic placed over his heart - which Smits miraculously hit.
He says, "For the scene, I was bound in Saran Wrap, duct tape over my mouth. I couldn't say a thing as I saw Jimmy grab at the knife. He picked up the real one by pure mistake. It was a mean looking knife.
"I heard fellow actor Michael C. Hall yelling at Jimmy to stop - but it was too late. I felt the thud in my chest. I didn't have on a metal breast plate like a lot of actors do in a scene like that.
"Instead I had a piece of acrylic clear plastic about the size of a Post-it note over my heart. It was a quarter of an inch thick and not attacked. In eight out of 10 takes with the prop knife, Jimmy had missed the plastic. But by a miracle, an act of God, the knife landed at the very edge of the plastic.
"I really thought I'd been stabbed in the heart, but I didn't have a scratch. Jimmy was devastated and couldn't stop apologising. I told him, I felt more sorry for him than me."

If you're not so thrilled with the peeks of Hilary Swank as Amelia Earhart, or her collection of more recent comedic fare, read on -- the Oscar-winning actress is taking another trip into the realm of the serious. Variety reports that Swank is going to star in a new film called Betty Anne Waters.
Based on a true story, Swank gets to be a high school dropout who is convinced that her brother has been wrongfully convicted of murder. Rather than just whipping up buzz for her family member, she decides to take action. "In between raising kids and waiting tables, she worked her way through college and law school so she could represent her brother after he'd used up his attempts to appeal his conviction through public defenders." That's certainly one way to help!
While Swank's more recent interests haven't proved all that exciting, this project is sounding pretty intriguing.

TV serial killer Michael C. Hall has learned enough from his role on Dexter to get away with murder in real life.
Hall plays a cop with a murderous streak, who disposes of bad guys, in the hit show.
Hall's Dexter has escaped undetected for three seasons, and the actor is convinced he has the perfect plan to commit a real unsolvable murder.
He tells the New York Post, "(I) stand a better chance of not being caught. But I'm not going to tell you how I'd kill someone."

Three days is all fans have to wait for the return of Showtime’s Dexter, which airs its highly anticipated third season on September 28 at 9pm on Showtime. The series, which stars Michael C. Hall as the “serial killer with morals,” comes back with new recruit Jimmy Smits, who we previously reported will be playing Dexter’s first adult friend. While some may find this as a development in the emotional aspect of Dexter, some still think that the dynamic of the show lies in the fact that we can never tell if he is truly striving to regain is emotional connection to the world or he’s just faking a front to fit into the crowd.
"I'm always reluctant to come down either way, because I think part of our show's appeal is that 'which is it?' ambiguity," Hall said in a recent conversation with Canada.
