Borat as Captain Jack's brother in "Pirates of the Caribbean 4"? Possibly maybe, says Cinema Blend, who heard it from their anonymous Hollywood "proven informant" and stressed the rumor should be taken "with a grain of salt and a dose of pepper." But still! The other candidate to play the sibling of Johnny Depp's swashbuckler, set to return in the fourth installment of "Pirates," is said to be British comedian Russell Brand ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall").

Words are Captain Jack Sparrow could be having a brother in "Pirates of the Caribbean 4". The latest report about the Walt Disney's future project from Cinema Blend has picked up the newest rumor from the fourth "Pirates" flick, suggesting that either Sacha Baron Cohen of "Borat" or Russell Brand of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" may take on the possible role.
The speculation about the new character comes out as Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan, the lead characters played by Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley respectively, are out from "Pirates 4". Adding to the Cohen and Brand's rumor, it has also been said that Geoffrey Rush is planning to return as Captain Hector Barbossa.
About the director of the fourth movie, Cinema Blend noted that Gore Verbinski, the helmer of the hit "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy, is eyeing to reprise his role. However, there is new rumor coming out that "Sweeney Todd

Prepare yourself for even more Shakespeare. With a terrific assemblage of talent for a 2010 remake of King Lear already making headlines, The Hollywood Reporter today announced that Across the Universe director Julie Taymor will direct a new version of The Tempest starring recent Oscar winner Helen Mirren as Prospero...er, Prospera, in this case.
Yes, Taymor has changed the gender of one of Shakespeare's more interesting characters, and she is surrounding Mirren with Djimon Housou, Alfred Molina, Jeremy Irons, Ben Whishaw, Felicity Jones...and Russell Brand from Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Uh-huh. Geoffrey Rush may also join the ensemble.
Taymor has done the Bard thing before, directing 1999's Titus.

Chalk up another two names of notable talent to be added to the already hefty list of actors lending their voices for the upcoming CGI film, Astro Boy, from Imagi Studios. It is hard to believe that we still have to wait more than a year for this film to hit theatres. Sonuva! But I digress, here are the two actors recently signed on.
Kristen Bell, the oh-so-easy on the eyes actress from television shows like Heroes and Veronica Mars and films like Forgetting Sarah Marshall is joining the cast. And while her name makes me swoon this next name makes me giggle like a little school girl. Matt Lucas, one half of the brilliant Little Britain team, is also another name added to the cast. Oh joy. I promise if they can get his Andy’s ‘I Know’ into the script, just once, I promise I will squeal like a little school girl.

Heroes actress Kristen Bell has hailed the action-packed nature of the show's third season. "It's so much fun," Bell, who plays electrical Elle, told the Montreal Gazette. "This season has been a lot different from last season. They really upped the ante this year and the whole villain concept. They really kind of blew it out of the park. I've been really excited to read each script that's come in." Bell, best known for roles in Veronica Mars and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, added (more)

I'm finally writing a post here that my sister will read. You see, she adores Russell Brand almost as much as Brand adores Cinematical and Scott Weinberg (see image above as proof of this fact). Maybe even more, because unlike most Americans, she was avidly following his British career via his podcast and BBC America. There have been many humbling moments in my Cinematical salad days, but none quite so humiliating as when I told her Brand was in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. "I know. I followed the filming on his podcast." At least Weinberg promptly humiliated her by getting all cozy with her favorite Englishman.
As my sister wasn't one of the casting directors for Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Brand had to make an audition tape to convince them of his weirdly-coiffed worthiness. In honor of its DVD release, MTV has the exclusive, and I've embedded it below for your viewing pleasure.

Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey has provided an unexpected blow to Russell Brand's film career - insisting he would never dream of working with the comedian.
Brand has carved himself a Hollywood movie career after years on the comedy circuit in his native Britain, making a name for himself with niche roles in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and St Trinians.
But American Beauty star Spacey is clearly not a fan of Brand's big screen endeavours, and would "never " allow the star to perform in one of his productions at London's Old Vic theatre.
He says, ""I would never ask Russell Brand because he's just a f**king personality. That's not acting. He's not an actor."

I can’t say I’m excited about a “Cats & Dogs” sequel, but the film is happening and it’s already in production. Nope, there’s nothing we can do about it.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the live-action parts of "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore” are shooting in Vancouver, with Chris O’Donnell and Jack McBrayer cast in the lead roles.
Directed by Brad Peyton, the film obviously follows a bunch of cats and dogs fighting for world domination. Ron Friedman and Steve Bencich wrote the script.
O’Donnell is known for his roles in “Batman & Robin,” “The Bachelor” and the recent “Kit Kittredge: An American Girl.” He will next be seen with Mark Wahlberg in John Moore’s “Max Payne.”
McBrayer recently appeared in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” He’s best known for playing Kenneth Parcell on television’s “30 Rock.”

I've had high hopes for Jack McBrayer ever since I caught him as naive Kenneth Parcell on 30 Rock, and I'm glad to hear that he's snagged a starring role after his hilarious supporting turn in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. But I've got to admit, my dreams of stardom for this guy didn't exactly include CGI talking animals, or for that matter, Chris O'Donnell. O'Donnell and McBrayer will star in Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, a sequel to the 2001 movie that we all may as well have hallucinated for as well as it's remembered today. The story picks up again as cats and dogs battle for rule of the earth, writes The Hollywood Reporter, with humans presumably stuck haplessly between them. Bear in mind that the human leads of the last Cats & Dogs movie were Jeff Goldblum and Elizabeth Perkins; not to be mean, but neither of their ...

You can point at me and call me names if you like, but I think Forgetting Sarah Marshall is the best of the Judd Apatow comedies. As funny as Superbad is, there's a lot of wasted time in that movie, and the same thing goes for Knocked Up and 40-Year-Old Virgin.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall, on the other hand, doesn't have much fat to trim at all. Granted, at its funniest it isn't as funny as the best moments in Superbad, but over the long haul, I found it more entertaining. So I was dee-lited to find a copy of the DVD in my mailbox on Monday. And sweet Jebus: It's a three-disc set! Sit on that, Iron Man!
We've got a few copies of Forgetting Sarah Marshall to give away, courtesy of Universal Home Entertainment. The movie stars Jason Segel, who also wrote the script, Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, who has never looked better,

Forgetting Sarah Marshall's producers have begun developing ideas for a movie about Primrose Hill, say reports. Russell Brand's tales about life in the London district have inspired the team behind hit films Superbad and Knocked Up, according to The Sun. "Primrose Hill is one of the focal points of London's showbiz scene and these guys from Hollywood are now interested in making a movie about the place," said an insider. Kate Moss' social life is to inspire a new movie. The team behind "Superbad" and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" are reportedly keen to make a film about the antics of the supermodel and her close friends, known as the Primrose Hill set - which includes Kate, Rhys Ifans, actress Sadie Frost and her ex-husband Jude Law, Sienna Miller, Jonny Lee Miller and British actress Davinia Taylor.
A source revealed: "Primrose Hill is one of the focal points of London's showbiz scene and these guys from Hollywood are now interested in making a movie about the place."
"They worked with Russell Brand on 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' so have heard all about his weird and wonderful experiences in Primrose Hill."
"The area is full of celebrities but also lots of unemployed musicians and they like the idea that everyone looks and acts like they are famous, even if they are not.

At the risk of drawing the ire of Batfans everywhere, I'll just come out and say it: Iron Man is the best my favorite superhero movie of the year. (Dear Comic-Con: Please don't revoke my press pass.) Dark Knight is indeed brilliant, and brilliantly dark, but Iron Man is just so much more ... fun (And it has social messages!). Poor Jeff Bridges may not hold a candle to the late Heath Ledger in the villain department, but Iron Man wins out elsewhere. Its characters are colorful and layered, its action is supremely stylish and never overbearing (unlike Transformers, even in its hot metal-on-metal action) and thanks to sensibilities of Robert Downey Jr. and director Jon Favreau, it's flat-out funny. Man-crush alert: Downey Jr. is fast on his way to becoming an acting icon, right up there with Al Pacino and Jared from Subway.

(With Forgetting Sarah Marshall arriving on DVD today, we're re-posting this popular Discuss post from last April)

Here's why it's a bad idea to share a house with a Cinematical writer -- your formerly innocent nights at the movies are stored away for discussion, your casual remarks posted for the entire world to see. My apologies to all the family members this involves.
My sister and her boyfriend caught Forgetting Sarah Marshall a few nights ago -- a second showing for her, first time for him. When I inquired as to how the boyfriend liked it, my sister revealed that he had actually covered his eyes when Jason Segel dropped that towel.
"Good lord," I said. "Really? Doesn't he see that every time he's in the shower?" I mentioned it to a male friend, and he said he completely understood boyfriend's squeamishness.

Fans of full-frontal male nudity will be delighted to learn that this week's DVD Tuesday features the home-video debut of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, starring Jason Segel, Kristen Bell, and a pre-vma meltdown Russell Brand. Also releasing today: Taxi to the Dark Side, the Oscar-winning documentary chronicling the beating death of an Afghani cab driver; Chapter 27, the little-seen Mark David Chapman biopic for which Jared Leto gained a whopping 67 pounds; and Bigger, Stronger, Faster*, first-time filmmaker Chris Bell's fascinating examination of steroid abuse in America.
Our DVD pick of the week is Iron Man, the best superhero movie of all time not named The Dark Knight. Maybe you've heard of it.

DVD Links: Release Dates | New Dvds | Reviews | RSS Feed Iron Man Obviously the release of the week is Paramount's Iron Man, which hits DVD, 2-Disc DVD and Blu-ray today. It seems like so long ago that I reviewed the Blu-ray version but I keep to my high marks and I actually found the film more enjoyable at home and was able to find the second half slightly more entertaining as is usually the case when I find something relatively dumb in theaters, dumb is just easier to swallow at home and the climax of Iron Man, come on, let's face it, is pretty dumb. The Blu-ray comes with a decent handful of special features, most of which can also be found on the 2-Disc DVD. I will warn you of one thing though, I have heard folks have been having trouble with their Blu-ray review copies

There is a Lot of stuff on the two-disc collector's edition DVD release of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, including both theatrical and extended unrated cuts of the film itself. Unfortunately, much like the movie, a lot of this stuff is just plain forgettable. For all the ballyhoo about the male nudity and political incorrectness, if anything, watching this one again only proved just how ho-hum it all truly is. When composer Peter Bretter (Jason Segel) is dumped by his famous television star girlfriend Sarah Marshall (Kristin Bell) he heads to Hawaii to hopefully get over her. Unfortunately for him, the starlet just happens to be their cavorting around the island with her new boyfriend British pop singer Aldous Snow (Russell Brand). On the pretext of simple friendship, Peter starts taking in the local color with sexy hotel receptionist Rachel (Mila Kunis), not even noticing that his constant infatuation with his ex

The two-disc edition of the "Iron Man" DVD, out Tuesday, contains more than four hours of extras, including a seven-part making-of documentary followed by a six-part doc on the character. Not to be outdone, the collector's edition of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," out the same day, comes with not two discs, but three.
All of which begs the question: Do you actually need to be an Iron Man to get through the content on these DVDs?
In the case of "Iron Man," your desire to slog through the
