Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) -- Time manipulation / Time travel /Teleportation -- Japanese man traveling with his friend Ando. Powers are somewhat iffy, as he sometimes cannot manipulate the space time continuum at all, and at other times will overshoot his intended destination by miles and/or centuries. The son of a successful Japanese businessman, Kaito Nakamura.

Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere) -- Cell regeneration/ Self-healing -- "The cheerleader", Mr. Bennet's adopted daughter; biological daughter of Nathan Petrelli and Meredith Gordon. She ran away from first "PrimaTech Paper", in Texas, and later her bio-dad and grandmother, in New York. She was voted her high school's Homecoming Queen thanks to Zach and the "unpopular" voters. Her blood can be used to heal others, not just herself.

Niki Sanders (Ali Larter) -- Superhuman strength -- Micah's mom, married to D.L. Is afflicted with the multiple personality disorder that apparently is a result of the stress the power takes on the person's mind. MPD isn't considered a power as it can affect any of the heroes, not just Niki. Her power is her superhuman strength. After this she left Micah with family of DL's and went to the company to get "cured". While there, she was used by Matt's father to try to kill Bob, but then was injected with the "Virus", the new threat. In 2.11 "Powerless", Niki sacrifices herself to free Micah's kidnapped cousin, Monica Dawson, from a burning building.

Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) -- Power mimicry -- A registered nurse, Nathan's brother, was Simone's lover after being her father's Hospice nurse. Thought by outsiders to be mentally unstable. The first season's plot semi-revolved around the possibility of him exploding and destroying New York. As of the second season's premier it seems Peter is alive, but has no idea as to who he is or what he's capable of in terms of his abilities. He survived the "explosion" after he absorbed his niece Claire's regenerative capabilities. After dropping Nathan off at a hospital, he is taken captive by The Company. He breaks out with Adam aka Kensei, who later convinces Peter to help release a lethal virus. Nathan and Matt try to stop them, and are joined at PrimaTech by a vengeance seeking Hiro.

Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar) -- Flight -- Politician, Peter's brother. Claire Bennet's biological father. Appears his first experience with flight (that we know of) partially caused the accident in which his wife was paralyzed. Peter also dreamt the dream as it was happening/right before it happened. As of the end of "How to Stop an Exploding Man", newly-elected Nathan flies Peter high above the earth, saving New York from its seemingly unavoidable future. Due to this it is assumed he died, but returns in the second season as a much different man. It is said that since the occurrences in the season one finale he's become a drunk, driven away his wife and children, and it seems has left his elected position of congressman.

Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) -- Mind Reading, later fully developed Telepathy/Mind Manipulation -- Dyslexic police officer turned bodyguard after six-month duty suspension after a raid on PrimaTech paper factory to find where Sylar was being held was unsuccessful. Also, trying to mend his marriage to Janice, who is pregnant. As of the end of "How to Stop an Exploding Man", Matt is in critical condition. As of the beginning of season two, "Four Months Later", Matt and Mohinder are living together and watching over Molly Walker. Matt is hired by the NYPD after finally passing detective's exam, and claims to have split from his wife and unborn baby. In "Five Years Gone", Matt and Janice's child is in hiding and referred to as "Matthew", but in Season 2, Matt claims the baby is not his, but his ex-partner Tom McHenry's, and he is divorced. But when trapped in his father's psychic projection, his wife accuses Matt of abandoning them. His powers have evolved, and now instead of only reading thoughts he can put thoughts into people's heads, controlling them like his father, Maury, the "Nightmare Man" Molly is afraid of.

Gabriel "Sylar" Gray (Zachary Quinto) -- Numerous stolen abilities -- "Sylar" is the alias used by Gabriel Gray, a watch maker turned serial killer who absorbs the powers of those with superhuman abilities by killing them and dissecting their brains. His own original power appears to be an instinctive sense for how things fit together and how they can be fixed if broken, something that served him well both in his watchmaking career and, subsequently in his drive to integrate the abilities of others into himself. He credits Chandra Suresh with turning him into the serial killer he is today. He was responsible for many deaths including Brian Davis, Zane Taylor, Charlie, Jackie, and Molly's parents. At the end of "How to Stop an Exploding Man", his condition is uncertain, as he appeared to have been stabbed to death. You can see Sylar survived as the receding view of the last battle ground shows a blood trail leading from where his body had been lying to an open sewer manhole. He was saved by Candice Wilmer who took him to South America to mend under instructions from The Company.

"The Haitian" (Jimmy Jean-Louis) -- Power negation / Memory suppression -- Works with/for Mr. Bennet but seems to have a scheme of his own. The Haitian wears a necklace with a strange symbol resembling an RNA molecule*, a recurring symbol on the show. While he has no name referenced in the series yet, this is how he is referred to by the writing team. (*The symbol had been presumed to be an RNA molecule throughout the duration of the show, however Ando recently identified it as a combination of two Japanese characters: Sai [great talent] and Yo [Godsend]. This was revealed in the episode Godsend. RNA could still play a role in this, as nothing has been finalized.)

D.L. Hawkins (Leonard Roberts) -- Phasing -- Most likely description for his power is being able to oscillate the atoms in his body at/near the speed of light. Was framed by Niki's alter-ego, Jessica, and jailed for stealing Linderman's two million dollars. Later killed Linderman for reasons unrelated to the money. Married to Niki, father to Micah. Was killed when he tried to rescue Nikki (Currently under possession of a new personality, Geena) from LA. Was dead before the first episode of the new season.

Micah Sanders (Noah Gray-Cabey) -- Technopathy (can manipulate technology with his mind) -- Child prodigy son of Niki and D.L. Read the same Mendez comic book Hiro had, which had not yet been released. Kidnapped by Candice Wilmer. Responsible for Nathan Petrelli's landslide victory in the 2006 election. Currently living with his father's relatives in New Orleans.

Sanjog Iyer (Javin Reid) -- Spirit Guide/Dream Traveler (can enter people's dreams and show them the past) -- Child living in India who guides Mohinder Suresh to the realization that he was the second child born to his parents, amongst other things regarding his father's past. Largely because of this boy, Suresh travels back to New York where he begins his search for Heroes with renewed fervor.

Isaac Mendez (Santiago Cabrera) -- Precognition -- Paints the future while in self-induced, trance-like state. Recovering from a heroin addiction. Appears to have an attraction to Simone. (The show started with Isaac & Simone in a relationship, which ended due to Isaac's heroin addiction, after which Simone & Peter became involved). Killed by Sylar after finishing the final "Ninth Wonders" issue and handing his sketchbook over to his messenger. A series of eight paintings he left behind drive several cast members in season two. It is unknown how many paintings he had left behind.

"Claude Raines" (Christopher Eccleston) -- Invisibility -- Found by Peter and seems to have been in control of his power for some time. The "Invisible Man". Lives above the apartment building that Simone's father owned & lived in, and many premonitions occur from this vantage point. His real name is unknown - he likens himself to the actor Claude Rains, who played the lead character in The Invisible Man. Was teamed with Mr Bennet shortly after Bennet was hired by The Company. When The Company found out Claude may have been working for outside interests to protect people with powers, they arranged to have Bennet kill his friend. Claude knew about their plan, due to his invisible spying, and made arrangements to disappear, eventually finding his way to New York City, possibly under the protection of Charles DeVeaux, explaining his residence on top of DeVeaux's building.

Meredith Gordon (Jessalyn Gilsig) -- Pyrokinesis -- Claire's biological mother. Supposedly died along with Claire in a building fire, though both survived. Character seems "divided" between a genuine concern for Claire, and a long-nurtured grifter mentality to extort money from Nathan, cheating Claire in the process. Claire suspected that it was all about money for her.

Eden McCain (Nora Zehetner) -- Persuasion -- "Friends" with Mohinder and his father, Chandra Suresh. Works for Mr. Bennet. Also known as Sarah Ellis. Committed suicide by turning gun on herself to keep Sylar from gaining her power after a failed effort to persuade him to kill himself.

Ted Sprague (Matthew John Armstrong) -- Radiation Channeling -- High amounts of radiation (at least 1800 curies) emit from his body during times of extreme emotion. Ted was initially suspected to be "Sylar", due to his wife's oncologist's death by immolation. Matt was able to determine that the death was an accident, caused by Ted's power. Ted cannot yet control his power, and he is also responsible for his wife's terminal cancer. Ted has the same mark on his shoulder as Matt, a symbol that resembles an RNA molecule, implying that the two are somehow connected. The symbol has since been linked to a specific type of drug-administering device, with 2 particular slash lines, that appears to have been used on all the heroes who have been captured, hence the matching lines. Killed by "Sylar" in the penultimate episode of the first season, meaning Peter is not the only potential destroyer of New York.

Charlie Andrews (Jayma Mays) -- Instant Learning-- A waitress in a small diner, Charlie managed to learn a conversational level of Japanese by spending just a few hours speaking with Hiro and Ando, but was shortly thereafter killed by Sylar for her power. Hiro tried to save her by going six months back in time by using his power, but discovered that she'd already been diagnosed with a terminal disease. Hiro loved her, and right after this trip is when his powers weakened (possibly fueled by his sense of failure and futility about them).

Hana Gitelman (Stana Katic) -- Cyberpathy / Cyberkinesis -- Hana contacts Ted Sprague out of the blue while he hides out in the Nevada desert. She explains to him about the marks gained from his abduction and shows her own slash lines. She explains they are from a type of gun that injects a radio isotope used for tracking. She also demonstrates her power by controlling Ted's computer and chatting to him using an Instant Messenger feature despite him not being connected to Internet. She claims that she can download "Wi-Fi" signals - pull E-Mails out with her head and access the Internet. She also says she can track Mr. Bennet, the one who abducted them, so Ted could "nuke" him.

Zane Taylor (Ethan Cohn) -- Molecular Manipulation -- Zane was in contact with Mohinder Suresh. Sylar showed up at his door instead and impersonated Mohinder. Zane was quick to allow Sylar in. Inside could be seen a lot of liquid materials on the floor. Zane demonstrated his ability: molecular manipulation to melt materials. Sylar seemed impressed. Later, we see the real Mohinder show up and this time Sylar is impersonating Zane. Having killed Zane and acquired his power he was easily able to convince Mohinder he was Zane and offered to travel with Mohinder to visit the others who had abilities, arguing he could demonstrate his own gift to help win their trust. Mohinder agreed, but it is unknown at which point he discovered that it was actually Sylar.

Dale Smither (Rusty Schwimmer) -- Super Hearing -- Dale is a female mechanic who is approached by Mohinder at her garage. With Mohinder is Sylar pretending to be Zane. At first she seems reluctant to help them until the fake Zane demonstrates his ability by melting her wrench. She explains she had super hearing. That a cockroach in her neighbor's house was like a marching band in her room. She also said that after she learned to control it she could hear rain from forty miles away and could even listen to a person's moods by hearing their heartbeats. She asks that they return tomorrow for talking. That night, however, Sylar meets her again. She asked why she didn't hear his footsteps and he replied saying there weren't any. She then asks what that sound in his heart was. He replies with "Murder." When Mohinder and fake-Zane return the next day Sylar is having difficulty controlling his newly acquired Super Hearing and Mohinder finds the deceased Dale. They flee the scene, calling the police from the road.

Candice Wilmer (Missy Peregrym) -- Illusion -- Candice works for "The Company" that Mr. Bennet works for, and can make others see what she wants them to see. In the episode "Parasite," Candice walks in as the police are about to discover Simone's body in Isaac's apartment, and appears as be a very alive Simone. She later assumes the form of Mrs. Bennet in order to find out whether he is still trying to find Claire, then calls in the reinforcements and resumes her own form. She has hinted that she is constantly in disguise, and eats like she doesn't care about what she looks like. When Sylar kills her in the third episode (Kindred) of season 2, her shape returns to her real form, an obese woman.

Mr. Linderman (Malcolm McDowell)-- Can Heal Others -- Las Vegas based Corinthian Casino owner with ties to mob. Former owner of the sword Hiro needed to regain his power. Buyer of many painters, including Isaac Mendez, claims he has several other psychic painters in his personal gallery. Jessica's boss. Nathan Petrelli was trying to set him up by wearing a wire for the FBI, but then decided to just kill him after being warned by Nikki. He hesitates when Linderman admits to knowing everything about him and the other heroes. As of the end of "How to Stop An Exploding Man", Linderman is dead, killed by D.L. Hawkins reaching into his skull and possibly removing part of his brain.

Molly Walker (Adair Tishler) -- Can Find Others -- Little girl whose parents have been murdered by a serial killer believed to be "Sylar". She first appeared in Heroes: Chapter Two 'Don't Look Back' (#1.2) Her powers are revealed in Heroes: Chapter Twenty-One 'The Hard Part' (#1.21) as being able to locate anyone. Currently her powers don't work as she is dying. Mohinder is trying to heal her with his own blood - as she has the same illness that killed his sister. Is living with Matt and Mohinder in Mohinder's apartment as of season 2. After being cured, she was attacked by "The Nightmare Man" when Matt tried to get her to track his father. The father had trapped Molly in a nightmare, leaving her body in a coma. Note: A "James Walker" appears in Chandra Suresh's database, and may be Molly's late father, who was found frozen and scalped by Sylar. Her mother is seen pinned to a wall by silverware, dead but otherwise untouched, so it is doubtful she had powers.

Charles DeVeaux (Richard Roundtree) -- Dream Walking -- He was the father of Simone Deveaux, and a former hospice patient of Peter Petrelli. Simone believed that Peter was "like a son to him" and that Charles improved under Peter's care. At the moment he died of natural causes, Peter had dream where Charles spoke to him. Peter's first instinct to fly was suggested by a dream Charles told to Peter. His appearance in "How To Stop an Exploding Man" shows that he was not simply Simone's father, but also the most kind-hearted and insightful of the previous generation's "heroes". Can sense Peter's projected presence, since he knows Peter is present, even though his projection is "invisible" to others around Charles.

Angela Petrelli (Cristine Rose) -- unconfirmed, possibly biorhythmic control -- Mother of Nathan and Peter. Admits to plotting the destruction of New York with Linderman. When "The Twelve" concept is introduced, Tim Kring stated all twelve members had powers, and that each would be revealed in Chapter Two: Generations. (Presumably, this idea was one of many plot points curtailed due to the then-upcoming Writer's Guild Strike.) The only hints at Angela's powers have been: inconsistencies with reports of her husband's (known as "Dallas" Petrelli in online comic) death (heart attack or suicide); a comment to Peter in 1.12 "Godsend" deleted scene about him having a heart attack as she is trying to calm him down after waking from his coma; in 2.8 "Four Months Ago", the fact she is rubbing her daughter-in-law Heidi's arms while trying to convince her to leave the hospitalized Nathan is obviously impressed upon; and when Peter meets her one year in the virus-ravaged future, he only regains some of his memory after she touches him. She meets with Kaito when both receive a photographic death threat from Adam. When Kaito is killed, she turns herself in, claiming she killed him because of spurned love, admitting they once had an affair, years previous. She is attacked in custody while alone (presumably by Maury Parkman), and later reveals to Matt she knew his father and where to find Victoria Pratt, another member of their group, "The Twelve." Pratt may be the only one to find the virus Adam wants to unleash, but she has already been killed by Adam (with a still amnesiac Peter) before Matt can get to her. Early episodes of Season 3 confirm Angela to have the ability to forsee the future, causing her to become infuriated at "Future Peter" for consistantly trying to fix the future by altering the past, somehow making things indifferent or worse (aka 'the butterfly effect') and ever-changing her visions each time.

Maya Herrera (Dania Ramirez) -- Plague possession -- Introduced in Season Two, twin sister of Alejandro Herrera. Discovered on her brother's wedding day, that she has the power to kill by conjuring a unknown virus by pure thought after she discovered her brother's wife cheating on him. Whenever threatened or in a state of fear, her eyes turn black and she makes anyone within close quarters to make their eyeballs, ears, and mouths bleed out a black-putrid fluid. Only her bother, is immune to her ability and can stop her from hurting others. They go on the run from the law after she inadvertently kills her brother's entire wedding party from their home in the Dominican Republic, across Central American and Mexico hoping to reach New York to find Mohinder Suresh hoping he has the research to cure her. Paths with Syler cross when they pick him up in Mexico, after he escaped from 'the Company's' imprisonment and tricks her into helping him too find Suresh so he will regain his powers.

Monica Dawson (Dana Davis) -- Ability to mimic others actions almost instantly upon viewing -- Introduced in Season Two, and the older cousin of Micah Sanders, and resides in New Orleans, she discovers that her mind can imitate any action that she sees, from cooking shows, to wrestling, to any action stunts. Although most of the things she learned to do were from TV shows or on the screen of a portable video player, at one point she did some complicated skipping manouvers upon seeing it happen on the street. Mother died in Hurricane Katrina, and wants to leave New Orleans to make a new life for herself. Micah helps her to understand her abilities. Saved from a fire by Niki Sanders, who is considered dead at this point in time, in the season 2 finale.

Bob Bishop (Stephen Tobolowsky) -- Abilty to turn objects into gold -- Introduced in Season Two as another member of 'the Company'. He hires Mohinder Suresh to help him find more people with special abilities and to use them for research purposes. Has an ulterior motive for wanting to study those people and keeps them in solitude quarters.

Elle Bishop (Kristen Bell) -- Electrokinesis, the ability to project lethal, electrical surges -- Crafty, sociopathic, sexually repressed daughter of Bob Bishop, and his chief enforcer/assassin for 'the Company'. Put in charge with looking after captive people with special abilities including Peter Petrelli and Adam Monroe. Sent to locate and capture or kill escaped subjects, including Peter, but has problems keeping her abilities low key and secret. Also assigned with spying on Claire Bennet.

Adam Monroe/Takezo Kensei (David Anders) -- Cell regeneration/Self-healing; identical powers with Claire Bennet -- First introduced as Takezo Kensei, a British national living in Japan in the year 1671 after having been shipwrecked there for a number of years. Took his Japanese name as a 'ronin', assassin-for-hire. Met with Hiro who time traveled back to Japan and persuaded him to accept his destiny as Japan's hero. Unfortunately, Kensei, after discovering his powers, used his abilities for his own self-interest by turning against Hiro and forming an alliance with a rouge warlord, named White Beard, to overthrow the Shogunate to take power for himself. With his powers of healing and regeneration, he does not grow old either and has lived though the centuries under various names, as well has his real name Adam Monroe. After being imprisoned in 'the Company's' prison for nearly 40 years, he escaped by manipulating Peter into helping him find a lethal virus the Company has in a storage facility in order to trick Peter into unleashing it and creating a world plague to decimate the human race in order re-create the world.

West Rosen (Nicholas D'Agosto) -- Flight; identical powers with Nathan Petrelli -- Classmate of Claire Bennet at her new high school in southern California. Smitten with Claire, he secretly discovers her powers and he confides in her with his. Both begin a secret romance, but Claire learns that he was abducted by her father while still working for the Company some years ago. West finds out and he's forced to team up with Claire's father to rescue her when she is abducted by the Company.

Tracy Strauss (Ali Larter) -- Super-freeze; ability to freeze any thing by mere touch -- Introduced in Season 3 as a political advisor to the shady Governor Malden, and the dead-splitting image of the late Niki Sanders, she discovers her ability to freeze things and persons rock solid (thus killing them) and is sent to recruit Nathan Patrelli to offer a seat in the U.S. Senate in Washington D.C. When she confides her abilities to him, he confides his ability to fly to her. She goes in search of her orgins and to why she looks like Niki Sanders.

Daphne Millbrook (Brea Grant) -- Super speed -- Also known as the 'Speedster'. Introduced in Season 3 as a master thief and criminal-for-hire, she makes her appearance by stealing one-half of a mysterious chemical formula from Hiro Nakamura which could have far reaching consequences for the world which could actually give normal people 'abilities'. Works for a mysterous "third party" with some greater, nefarious plans for the world. Revealed to be married to Matt Parkman four years in the future and while raising an infant daughter, works as an assasin-for-hire for the U.S. goverment.

Benjamin 'Knox' Washington (Jamie Hector) -- Fear manipulation -- Introduced in Season 3 as one of several prisoners in the super-secret 'Level 5' of the Company, he escapes during a power outage with a few others to plan robberies, which he was placed in the Company prison in the first place. Revealed to be, four years in the future, working as an assasin-for-hire along with Daphne Millbrook and Clare Bennett to hunt down and kill other people with abilities.

Jesse Murphy (Francis Capra) -- Sonic power -- Ability to produce physical sonic screeches, and one of several escapees of Level 5. Peter Patrelli was trapped inside his body by the Peter Patrelli of the Future. Also a criminal robber who uses his powers for crimes, and is partnered with Knox Washington.

The German (Ken Lally) -- Magnetic manipulation; ability to move and bend any metal.-- A mysterious and nameless German national imprisoned in the secret Level 5 of the Company who breaks out with Knox, Jesse and others to commit crimes with their abilities which they were imprisoned for in the first place.

Usutu (Ntare Mwine) -- Ability to see into the future; similar powers to Isaac Mendez. -- A nomatic African tribesman and spiritual walker who shows Matt Parkman his ability which he considers spirit walking and uses it to paint images on rocks to show Matt the bleak future the world has.

Bridget Bailey (Tehmina Sunny) -- Ability to see into ones self/brainwashing -- Briefly seen as an associate to Angela Patrelli who brainwashes Syler to make him see his moral ways and to make him more docile in order to get him to work for the Company.

Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman) -- Also known as "Horn-Rimmed Glasses" or just HRG due to his style of eyewear and the mystery surrounding his character. Claire's adoptive father. First name of "Noah" is unrevealed until "How to Stop an Exploding Man" to the point his Texas Driver's License reads only "Bennet", and gives their address as "9 Juniper Lane, Odessa, Texas" (ZIP code blurred out by Capitol Building) and only signed as "Bennet"

Ando Masahashi (James Kyson Lee) -- Co-worker and friend of Hiro Nakamura. Ando can speak and understand English and, unlike Hiro, knows how to drive a car. Is traveling around the US with Hiro. Has a crush on Hiro's older sister, Kimiko.

Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) -- He was a well respected Geneticist Professor in India. After his father was killed, he came to America to find out what really happened to him. He became a taxi driver to make money to afford his father's apartment. He then discovered his father's list there and is trying to discover what people are "Heroes".

Chandra Suresh (Erick Avari) -- Mohinder's late father, wrote a book called "Activating Evolution" about people developing superpowers and created "The List" of everyone in the world that has evolved to have powers. Murdered by "Sylar".

Simone DeVeaux (Tawny Cypress) -- Art dealer, also the lover of Peter and former lover of Isaac. Simone was accidentally killed when Isaac tried to kill Peter, and Candice briefly assumed Simone's form in order to cover it up when police were called by Isaac's neighbors.

Audrey Hanson (Clea DuVall) -- FBI agent working with Matt to catch Sylar.

Janice Parkman (Elizabeth Lackey) -- Wife of Matt. Had an affair with Matt's ranking officer and partner, Tom McHenry, and is currently pregnant with a baby, who is presumed to be Matt's. In the alternate timeline of "Five Years Gone", it is suggested they had a son called Matthew but she has either broken up with Matt, or gone into hiding with their son who may have powers.

Zach (Thomas Dekker) -- A high school classmate of Claire and one of the few people to know of her powers. He was mindwiped by "The Haitian", but Claire has after that yet again let him know of her powers. Has not been featured since the story moved from the "Save the Cheerleader" arc.

Lyle Bennet (Randall Bentley) -- Claire's younger brother, the natural son of Noah and Sandra Bennet. Discovered Claire's powers by accident after swiping the videotape she and Zach made. This knowledge was wiped from him by Haitian after Sylar's attack in "Homecoming".

Sandra Bennet (Ashley Crow) -- Claire's adoptive mother. Suffered brain damage from repeated mindwipes by Haitian under orders from her husband to protect his secrets.

Jackie Wilcox (Danielle Savre) -- Cheerleader and former best friend of Claire. Was killed by "Sylar" as he thought she had a power instead of Claire.

Brody Mitchum (Matt Lanter) -- Quarterback of the high school football team. Tried to rape Claire. Was later mindwiped by "The Haitian" on Mr. Bennet's orders.

Hank & Lisa (Colby French & Karri Turner) -- Visit the Bennet house supposedly as Claire's biological parents, but instead work for Mr. Bennet. Hank is later seen to be a doctor under the employ of 'The Company'. Hank is killed by Sylar in his escape from PrimaTech.

Heidi Petrelli (Rena Sofer) -- Nathan's wife. Confined to a wheelchair after another car forced their car into a crash, which Nathan escaped using his power. She is later healed by Mr. Linderman. Convinced to leave a hospitalized Nathan by Angela in "Four Months Ago"-2.8.

Kaito Nakamura (George Takei) -- Hiro and Kimiko's father. A successful Japanese businessman. He was the man who gave Claire to Mr. Bennet to care for in case she showed signs of being "special," at which point he was to turn her back over to "The Company." **In "The Hard Part", it is implied that he may have a power. Killed by Adam/Kensei in "Four Months Later". Angela Petrelli admits to killing Kaito, possibly to protect herself from Adam, and admits to an affair they once had. Once Hiro returns to present from Feudal Japan, where he first meets Kensei/Adam, he tries to save his father. Kaito refuses Hiro's attempt to save him when Hiro reminds him of how they felt at his mother's funeral. Father and son depart to meet their fates on good terms. In a deleted scene on the season two DVD, Kaito reveals to Ando that he too has an ability. He can see all the variables of any situation and predict the outcome. Due to the deletion of the scene, it is unclear weather he is considered to have a power.

Kimiko Nakamura (Saemi Nakamura) -- Hiro's older sister. "The smart one", according to Ando.

Edit:: The only problem I have with this list is that many of the people on it may very well have powers. All of the Nakamura's may have powers as it has been suggested that Kaito may have been involved with other heroes in attempts to "save the world" before there was infighting that split them up. Involved were "Dallas" and Angela Petrelli (Nathan and Peter's parents), and Charles Deveaux and Linderman supposedly, all of whom (save "Dallas") have been hinted at demonstrating powers during season 1. There could be others involved. Also, Mohinder might also be considered to have a power, as his blood is the only known cure to the "Shanti virus."

Gabriel Gray, self-dubbed "Sylar" is the most prominent villain of the first season, responsible for hunting down and killing other people with powers. He was contacted by Suresh, who hoped to discover some inherent power. When Sylar was rejected by Suresh, he sought to make himself special. Calling on his experience as a watchmaker, he murdered a man who proved to have telekinesis and dissected his brain. He acquired the power of telekinesis and has used his power to murder others. It is conjectured that he can acquire other powers by dissecting the brains of people who possess powers. Due to contracting the disease currently assaulting those with powers, he is currently unable to use any abilities though he is not aware of this and believes he may have lost them during the fight at the end of season 1. It is unknown if he can still obtain new powers while in this state as he attempted to do so with Cadice (Michelle) while under capture by the company after the events of season 1.

Ted Sprague debuted on the show as a possible villain, possessing the ability to become radioactive when experiencing heightened states of emotion. He was responsible for the death of a doctor, but Matt discovered that Ted accidentally killed him with the use of his power. At the time of his death in "The Hard Part", the only villainous act Ted committed was holding the Bennett family hostage in their home. Ted was in FBI custody for the second time when Sylar killed him in order to appropriate his power.

Mr. Linderman, the casino owner/mob boss who knows about powers and collects Isaac's paintings, is very probably a villain. He has manipulative power over Niki and D.L., and strong connections with Nathan Petrelli and his late father. As of Landslide he is dead ( Or so we are led to believe)

During the first season, HRG seemed to be a villain at first, but now the real villain behind his mysterious actions seems to be "The Company", which includes Thompson, (perhaps formerly) Kaito Nakamura, Linderman, (formerly) Eden, and Candace Wilmer (AKA Michelle). During the second season, the company has different members/new members introduced that were present but not seen in Season 1. These include Ivan (Bennet's old mentor), "Bob", and a lightning-powered girl named Elle. Also, Niki seems to join "the Company", and Mohinder infiltrates "the Company" (although his allegiances seem to actually sway to joining "The Company." (Note: In the second season, it is easy to question if "the Company" is truly an evil organization after the death of Linderman.

Matt Parkman's father, Maury Parkman, referred to by Molly Walker as "Nightmare Man". Revealed so far is the fact that he can see Molly when she attempts to look for him with her powers and appears frequently in her nightmares. It has been suggested that his powers allow him to enter the minds of others, though he chooses to do so through dreams. He is living in squalor when Matt and Nathan track him down, but the group photo of The Twelve seems to have been taken only a few years prior, and all pictured seem to suggest all twelve had a fairly high class of living. Maury traps Matt and Nathan in nightmares to get away from them. He is mentioned as being one of Adam Monroe's supporters before The Twelve broke up. He is presumably behind the attack on Angela while she is in police custody for the murder of Kaito Nakamura. He later convinces Niki to kill Bob Bishop while inside Company Headquarters before Matt is able to trap him inside his own nightmare and freeing Molly at the same time. This breaks Maury's hold on Niki and thereby saving Bob as well.

Also, Hiro's idol, the legendary Takeso Kensei turned against Hiro whenever his love, Yaeko, fell in love with everyone's favorite "SuperHiro." Despite his regenerative abilities, he was believed to have been destroyed in an explosion that occured after the two fought. However, his powers appear to not only include regeneration, but also immortality. Kensei is revealed to be the true identity of "Adam Monroe," the mastermind who is attempting to kill all of his old partners, which he begins by attacking Kaito Nakamura by shoving him off the roof of the Deveaux Building in front of Ando. Ando rushes to the side, but only sees Kaito's body and two large pools of blood on the sidewalk. Angela Petrelli later falsely admits to the murder (possibly to protect herself from Adam), in doing so, she reveals she and Kaito once had an affair.

The licence plate number, NCC 1701, is the same as the registry number of the Starship USS Enterprise from the television series Star Trek in which George Takei appeared as the character Mr. Sulu.

In a podcast Interview for Comic News Insider, Bryan Fuller the Co-Executive Producer and Writer for Heroes, confirmed that the character Sylar was written in the sense that he eats their brains to "digest" their DNA and adapt his own DNA to gain that power. It was never directly stated in the show as even the writers thought the statement of Sylar eating brains was silly and would spark Zombie discussions in the office.

Sylar's initial super power seems to be an inate understanding of how things work (hence his watch repair profession). It's possible then that he opens up people's brains, like the backs of watches, so he can understand how they work. He even comments that he'd like to see how that power works when he captures Eden and attempts to take her power.

In the one of the last episodes of Season One, Molly Walker tells Mohinder that he can't stop the boogeyman (Sylar) because "he looks into your soul and then eats your brain." It is easy for that statement by Molly to confuse people as they might assume that the 'boogeyman' is Maury Parkman, but it is important to remember that Molly was in the same house while Sylar killed her parents and used her father's brain to get his abilities. Maury was 'The Nightmare Man', Sylar is the 'boogeyman'

It is anticipated that how Sylar absorbs the powers of others will be confirmed during the show's second season. Note that Chandra Suresh tells Sylar (through flashbacks) that the source of these latent powers comes from the soul, and the soul is kept within the brain, so it is logical to assume that Sylar gains his powers by taking in the souls of his victims by consuming their brains. There is also no evidence of brain tissue left when others find Sylar's victims, so any other explanation isn't as likely as simply "Sylar is eating their brains."

You can download the MP3 file for the PodCast Interview here. The actual confirmation isn't stated until about forty minutes in to the Interview.

In the recent promotions for Heroes Season 3, Clare is captured by Sylar, and says to him "are you going to eat my brain now?" to which he replys simply, "That's just disgusting." So it's possible he doesn't eat them. In the second episode of Season 3, "The Butterfly Effect", Sylar captures Claire Bennet and is seen softly touching her exposed brain after opening the top of her skull, prompting the afforementioned dialogue. Sylar reveals that his power to see the intricacies of working objects allows him to pinpoint the exact part of the human brain granting people their superpowers, which he then touches to absorb and copy their abilities. Up to this point, he had killed people simply to remove them from the picture, but lets Claire live stating "You're far too special, and I couldn't kill you if I wanted to. You can never die, Claire. And apparently, now neither can I."

Niki was her own person when she was younger. She had a sister named Jessica. Jessica had the ability of super-strength, and it is unclear whether or not Niki had a power herself. After Jessica was killed by her father as a child, she was able to enter the mind (more likely the subconscious) of Niki. As Niki got older, Jessica learned how to take over the body of Niki, making a sort of split personality. Jessica, using Niki's body, was still able to use the super-strength she had originally. Niki and Jessica could not come to terms throughout the first season, until the very last few episodes. At this time they were able to accept each other and "merge minds" into one stable being. At this time it seems that Niki's mind in control, but has the super-strength of Jessica.

Another view on this would be that Niki realized as a child that her father was responsible for the death of her twin sister, and suppressed it, causing multiple personality disorder later in life. Though only "Jessica" has the super strength, it would be safe to assume that both sisters (were both still alive) would each have super strength. "Jessica" has the super strength and Niki doesn't simply because Niki doesn't know how to use it, but "Jessica" does (kinda like Peter having to learn how to use his powers). In other words, both personalities are just as physically capable of using the strength, but only "Jessica" knows how.

To add to this other view, it has been confirmed by Bob (from "The Company") that Nikki's stress casued a fracture in herself, creating multiple personalities. This means Jessica does not possess Nikki, as it is just one of Nikki's personalities. We later see "Geena", another personality emerge in the episode "Four Months Ago". According to Bob, this happens sometimes which leads us to believe that Nikki's power is the strength alone, and the personalities is an affliction. It could possibly affect any of the heroes.

The affect on other "heroes" could be further speculated in Season 2, with Nathan looking into a mirror and seeing a horribly scarred version of himself.

Will Niki come back?

Ali Larter has returned but as someone named Tracy Strauss, it unknown who she is or why she looks just like Niki but it is likely that she's one of Niki's alternate peronsalities but it is not confirmed.

EDIT: She doesn't have the power to come back, but she could be brought back if she was given some of Claire or Adam's blood. Tracy Strauss is not an alternate personality. This is confirmed by Tracy looking at Niki's dead body, and then talking to Dr. Zimmerman.
