I was pretty excited by the Heroes Season 3 premiere and have been watching the show progress over the last few episodes. Saying that the pace has sped up compared to last season would be a wild understatement - things are happening at a rapid-fire pace.
But is it all light and no heat?
(Btw, there will be spoilers below.)
There have been so many revelations so far this season that it’ll make your head spin - it certainly keeps the “woah factor” up there (as in “woah, can you believe [insert crazy connection/item] just happened?!?!”), but has the pendulum swung too far in the opposite direction?
Last season the story moved very slowly, and due to the writers’ strike cutting the season short this ended up being a bad thing. Fans complained, the producers listened, and this season the opener was jam-packed with action and plot elements unfolding.
Since then, we’ve

Chalk up another two names of notable talent to be added to the already hefty list of actors lending their voices for the upcoming CGI film, Astro Boy, from Imagi Studios. It is hard to believe that we still have to wait more than a year for this film to hit theatres. Sonuva! But I digress, here are the two actors recently signed on.
Kristen Bell, the oh-so-easy on the eyes actress from television shows like Heroes and Veronica Mars and films like Forgetting Sarah Marshall is joining the cast. And while her name makes me swoon this next name makes me giggle like a little school girl. Matt Lucas, one half of the brilliant Little Britain team, is also another name added to the cast. Oh joy. I promise if they can get his Andy’s ‘I Know’ into the script, just once, I promise I will squeal like a little school girl.

A sneak peek into the next episode of "Heroes" has been released by NBC. Focusing on the dilemma faced by many of the heroes, the footage teases the moment Angela reveals from whom Nathan obtains his ability, while Claire is once again put on the position where she questions whom to trust. There is one interesting tidbit at the end of the video that terrified Angela.
Titled "Angels and Monsters", the 3.05 episode tells the story when Claire tries to take down her first target armed with H.R.G.'s old files and a taser, while Peter who runs from all the death and destruction in the future discovers that he has been changed by the experience. On the other story, Hiro befriends Daphne and new associate Knox. Suresh's attempts to correct research errors, on the other hand, put Maya and several others in a sticky situation.
Upon meeting with Linderman,

Heroes actress Kristen Bell has hailed the action-packed nature of the show's third season. "It's so much fun," Bell, who plays electrical Elle, told the Montreal Gazette. "This season has been a lot different from last season. They really upped the ante this year and the whole villain concept. They really kind of blew it out of the park. I've been really excited to read each script that's come in." Bell, best known for roles in Veronica Mars and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, added (more)

Jessica Alba has teamed up with Heroes star Hayden Panettiere for a spoof video urging young people in the U.S. to vote at the upcoming presidential election.
Alba has been a longtime supporter of the Declare Yourself campaign, and has made two controversial adverts for the organisation in a bid to encourage Americans to take to the polls in November.
The latest ad featured Alba wearing a Hannibal Lecter-style muzzle.
And now the Hollywood actress has enlisted the help of 19-year-old Panettiere for a satirical clip which has been posted on video sharing website YouTube.
The two stars are seen hosting a mock home-shopping show selling The Muzzler 2008, a similar device to that worn by Alba in the last campaign.
Panettiere is seen modelling a pink version, spelling out to youngsters the need not to let their political voices be silenced.
Marc Morgenstern, executive director of Declare Yourself, tells People.com, "Jessica and Hayden have an amazing ability to connect with young adults. Behind all the humour of the PSA lies a very serious message of what it actually means to sit out the election and effectively silence oneself."

The shock revelation that Sylar is part of the Petrelli family in Heroes did not impress Milo Ventiglia and Adrian Pasdar when they were first told. Ventimiglia, who plays Peter Petrelli, told E! Online that he and on-screen brother Pasdar were both initially unhappy, saying: "Somebody asked us at the same time and we were in the room together. We just kind of turned and looked at each other and said, 'Well, there's not really room'." Pasdar joked: "We were thinking, 'There's (more)

Another musical is set for a remake. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Alan Parker’s 1980 Oscar-winning “Fame” is the next one in line to receive a big-screen update, with Thomas Dekker attached to star in the lead role.
Dekker, who can be seen in television’s “Terminator: The Sarah Chronicles,” would play Marco, a working-class kid trying everything possible to get into a prestigious New York high school for the arts.
Kevin Tancharoen is directing the film, which was written by Allison Burnett and Aline Brosh McKenna. The trade says the project will be produced on $25 million.
Parker’s original musical won two Academy Awards in 1981: best original score and best original song.
Dekker has appeared in several TV shows, including “7th Heaven” and “Heroes.” He also wrote, directed and starred in “Whore,” an indie drama with Megan Fox that will open later this October.

Heroes is now in it's third season, but is the Emmy Award nominated show losing some ground with its new concoctions? Despite having its season premiere at this year's Comic-Con, the critics are having a shot at the new season which airs on Mondays 9/8C. For those who haven't watched the show, the cast includes Hayden Panettiere, Masi Oka, Milo Ventimiglia, Ali Larter, Zachary Quinto, James Kyson Lee, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Jack Coleman, Adrian Pasdar, Leonard Roberts, Ashley Crow and Santiago Cabrera. The NBC show has amassed a buffet of fans from everywhere, heck, we're part of that fan base. In any case, the challenge remains in coming up with new ideas on a frequent basis, a TV challenge. Let's hope "Heroes" keeps swinging.

From Hairspray to Mamma Mia to Fame. The next big musical headed to the big screen that's bound to be a big success is Fame, originally a 1980 musical conceived and produced by David De Silva. Thomas Dekker, from "Heroes" and "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles", is the first big name actor to join the film, which is scheduled to start shooting in February for a late 2009 release. Dekker will play Marco, a working-class kid with some gnarly acting chops who is competing with thousands of other hopefuls to get into and survive an elite New York public high school for the arts. Any fans of the original film out there? I'm a fan of some musicals and will probably give Fame a chance. The revamp is being produced by Mark Canton and Tom Rosenberg of Lakeshore Entertainment with a $25 million budget. The adaptation was written by Allison Burnett ...

There's no ponderous foreplay this year, as Heroes is back with an immediate bang in the magnificent season premiere 'The Second Coming'. A darker tone has certainly descended on the show for its third chapter, entitled 'Villains'. Here is our look at what to expect over the coming months - and there's a lot more than brain-devouring Sylar on the roam... New Characters "You're going to see a lot of bad guys," stated Heroes creator Tim Kring earlier in the year. The inner recesses of The Company's supposedly secure Level 5 section are unveiled, with several baddies locked up in cells - but not for long. Benjamin Knox, Jess Murphy, The German and Flint all escape into the outside world with powers including magnetic manipulation, fear feeding and pyrokinesis. We've already met the motherly Niki, last seen in a burning (more)

Some days ago I posted an article headlined, Creationism: Your questions answered." It was a Q&A that accurately reflected Creationist beliefs. It inspired a firestorm on the web, with hundreds, even thousands of comments on blogs devoted to evolution and science. More than 600 comments on the delightful FARK.com alone. Many of the comments I've seen believe I have converted to Creationism. Others conclude I have lost my mind because of age and illness. There is a widespread conviction that the site was hacked. Lane Brown's blog for <New York magazine flatly states I gave "two thumbs down to evolution." On every one of the blogs, there are a few perceptive comments gently suggesting the article might have been satirical. So far I have not seen a single message, negative or positive, from anyone identifying as a Creationist.

Hayden Panettiere was back in activist mode last night to host a bash for Declare Yourself. The event brought out stars like Emily VanCamp, Zachary Quinto, and Danity Kane, but it looks like Jessica Alba and her slightly scary PSA skipped this one in favor of bikini time. Hayden took the stage to make a speech, though she was more low-key when asked who she'll be casting her ballot for on Nov. 5. She simply said, "I'm a Democrat, so . . . " The election is only a little more than a month away, but while we're waiting to change the world, we can watch Hayden's alter ego doing her part on Heroes, which is one of our 15 shows to watch now. Although the season debut of NBC's Heroes was a disappointing bust Monday night with ratings plummeting 23 percent from last year's season starter, the episode turned out to be an enormous hit among those who watch pirated copies of TV shows online. According to the website TorrentFreak, on Tuesday, the day following the broadcast, Heroes was downloaded "well over a million times by BitTorrent users all over the world." The website observed that the downloads represented "the busiest day ever on many torrent sites." Heroes executive producer Jesse Alexander told the website that he believes the illegal downloads actually helps the show, particularly overseas, building a fan base before it arrives on the air. "People watching shows such as Lost and Heroes on BitTorrent is the present world reality," he said. "TV networks have to recognize this, give their viewers more ways to interact with the shows, and find ways to generate revenue from every member of the global audience,"

Signs that NBC's Heroes may have suffered a devastating blow after being forced to take a nine-month hiatus due to the writers' strike were apparent Monday as ratings for the season premiere were down 25 percent versus last year's opener. In fact, the heavily hyped two-hour episode matched the series' lowest original episode rating ever. The weak showing redounded to the benefit of CBS, which drew its best Monday premiere week ratings since 2002 and saw its ratings rise 10 percent above the same Monday opener a year ago. ABC also scored strongly with a two-hour season premiere of Dancing With the Stars. With 21.1 million viewers tuning in, it was the night's most-watched show. Likewise, the dancing contest dominated on Tuesday with 18.2 million viewers.
