One of the best, not just this season, but for the series' entire run. Anybody who has written anything will know how hard it is to juggle so many story lines and keep it entertaining for the reader and viewer. Well, I tip my hat off to Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof for proving both their immense talents with this spectacular, spellbinding hour of entertainment.

While casual viewers might have enjoyed the fast moving, high energy episode last night, those who enjoyed it the most were undoubtedly the show's most loyal fans. With many claiming that the show has 'lost' its mystery and intrigue, the writers were under pressure to produce something more interesting (as if the show wasn't interesting already), and with "The Brig" they have shown that they can step up and create something so good even the most demanding fans simply have to be satisfied.

What made this episode special was that while more mysteries were created, more cryptic answers were given, and the story of that damn island taken further, it was in fact the interaction between the characters that was the best part of it all. "The Brig" was about the confused, angry two men we know as John Locke and Sawyer. Naomi adds further intrigue to the tale by providing some shocking information.

Much credit is due to director Eric Laneuville for getting such great performances out of his cast, especially Terry O'Quinn, Josh Holloway, and Michael Emerson. What a great episode. If the rest of the season can be half as good as this, myself and many others will be very, very happy and frustrated people.

Letter Grade: A+
