I could not disagree more with this comment. I think that the acting generally is sub par with Anna Torv leading the pack. She has the same facial expression during the first three hours of the show indicating novice directing and lack of self critique from Torv, or that is the way she looks poor girl. Lance Reddick, who is great in The Wire, wears the stereotypical federal investigator suit as best he can but the characters are terrible, not sublime. The obligatory inter-departmental pissing contests are there of course, so I guess no one described to the writers that there are other ways of writing heated dialogue between people. The deus ex machina crisis and conflict resolutions are also plentiful. The writers know where they want the story to go but can't get there without cutting corners. Nothing that is introduced as a hurdle for the main characters is solved in a believable manner, the story just very conveniently presents an answer.
I was hoping for a modern X-files and was disappointed.
