If you love Italian b-movie (giallo, cannibal, gore) don't miss this one. It's the typical low budget, "straight to video" flick. As the Italians don't produce this kind of movie anymore, "Deadly Kitesurf" ("The Hell" in the Japan edition) is a good occasion to taste again the flavour of graphic and bloody violence typical of the Italian exploitation school, whose Luciano Martino, the producer and one of the movie's writer, is a glorious master (I think he is the Italian Roger Corman).
I gotta say that "Deadly Kitesurf" is not at the same level of the classics of the genre like "The Mountain of Cannibal God", "Big Caimano River" or "Eaten Alive", that are true masterpieces. The story is something like "Deliverance", with the kitesurf instead of rafting. After the spectacular aquatic open sequence, the story focuses on the love and jealousy facts of the young characters, but we understand that something bad is gonna happen. And then, when the action and the violence begins, the movie runs. Director Antonio De Feo is good to direct action, but better to sex scenes. The rape sequence in the cage is maybe the best of the movie. All in all, I can say that if you don't have interest in b-movie with sex and violence, it's better you stay away from this flick. But if you like the genre don't miss it, for Luciano Martino's sake! :-)
