The poster that is shown of Johnny Drama's TV-show "Five Towns" is apparently inspired by the movie poster of Four Brothers (2005), which stars executive producer Mark Wahlberg. The fictional TV-show is also apparently inspired by the real movie.

Continuity: When Ari, Eric and Drama are flying into the island, Turtle is buried in the sand, in the next shot, he is fully clothed yelling, "The Plane, The Plane".
