I have never seen any more annoying aired on television in my life. Every joke in this episode was immense miss, except the Chris water pistol gag, that got a chuckle out of me. Honestly, when you have an episode where in the first half the majority dialogue consists of the same predictable setup followed by the lyrics of Surfing Bird over and over, I would think a major rewrite would be in order. Especially when the joke wasn't funny to begin with. I get that we're SUPPOSED to be annoyed by the joke (just like Stewie is shown throughout the episode), but we're also supposed to be laughing. Am I supposed to be laughing when a man is literally screaming into my bedroom "the bird's the word, the bird's the word!" or am I supposed to reaching for the volume button on my TV?
Then we're showed a tired Office Space parody. What's funny about seeing an EXACT recreation of a scene that was funny ten years ago? Was the irony that they were using a record instead of a copying machine? If so, HILARIOUS. Not really. On top of that we're thrown with an Heath Leather reference, that actually wasn't really a joke, (though if it was supposed to be, it failed). It was kind of just thrown in there, I guess to get people talking... though most people probably changed the channel before it came up. Then the Jesus jokes were old, all having been done on the shown before, and the Jay Jeno impression was the worst impression ever done on the show.
In all, I knew Family Guy was going downhill for a long time, but I think it's finally reached the bottom. This was a nearly unwatchable episode. Hopefully the rest of the season isn't as horrible.
